Tyler Clutts from the Dallas Cowboys. How can you not like a Clutts?

I tell my kids, even a Clutts can play football. Wow – How inspirational it is.

I asked the question, Mr. The Wolf, since there are people who do make weddings, and wanted to know the mekor, if there is one, or is this just a minhag?

Gamanit – First off , only the parents receiving the credit will now about it. The parent body should not assume that if they do not pay, eventually they will be credited. Also, the money is given to the administrator to determine which people, based on their current matziv, are truly in need of relief. I picked the number 10 as a sample number. That will be determined as well by the amount that will be given from the Tzedakah.

And your idea for a charter school is intriguing. follow that up.

    As always Yasher Koach.

apushatayid — I disagree – You might be right that Yeshivos raise money throughout the year for various expenses. However even with “Larger Scholarships” there are families still struggling to meet the tuition payments.

If you run a business(Mosad,Yeshiva) and go over budget for whatever reason, either review your operating plan, and/or cut costs. Till today I do not understand what the yearly “Registration Fee” is. There are book fees, trip fees, shabboton fees, all I am saying is that with all these added fees, even with scholarships and dinners throughout the year, tuitions are still quite high.

When the Chinese auction is finished, do the parents get to see how much was raised and what is was used for? Maybe to your point, on their next tuition bill it should state, since we raised “X” dollars from the dinner/auction you can skip this months tuition payment!!! If I were a parent who saw this, I could then have some sort of justification of how the money was allocated.

Menuchos Hanefesh will give parents some feeling that someone is helping them out, very discretley and this would be Tzedakah to its fullest sense.

Another thought, why are tuitions raised every year? The learning in 5th grade costs more than the learning in 4th grade??? Are the teachers/rabbaim more qualified as the years progress??

the-art-of-moi, thanks for the support. Any leads you can throw my way??

As always – Yasher koach for your time.

So since there is no aveilus on Tzom Gedaliah, anything is acceptable? You know there is no aveilus on Yom Kippur as well.

It’s a day of Teshuva. This occured right after the first Churban, a Tzadik was killed, and right after Rosh Hashana, I think we should show some respect for that.

Halftime at a Jet game takes away from the fast.

    DaMoshe,

I am only stating the fact that I had seen pictures of a group of people attending a Jet game on Tzom Gedaliah and in the parking lot at half time, they had a Sefer Torah and had a mincha minyan.

So obviously there are people with the wrong priorities, unlike yourself!!

On there websites, it does not say what they do with them. At one point I had alot of points, and went on all my vacations with rdeeming them. I also redeemed for gift cards and great merchendise, i.e., treadmill, basket ball hoop, cameras, …. I think people are better off redeeming themselves, you get more value that way as opposed to selling it for cash.

Do they publicize the fact that they book flights for people? I was unawre of that. How did you know that, Rav Popa?

I am wondering if any of our askanim who do support various organazations as well as other forms of tzedakah, are reading these posts. I am curious if they have reasons why this form of tzedakah was never part of the equation.

The oppurtunity to ensure teachers as well as rabaim are paid on a timely basis seems like a good and sound plan!!!

I know there is a chushuva man who collescts money to ensure that each Rebbi or Teacher has Life insurance!! Yasher Koach – A great idea.

Why can’t we implement a simillar idea for their salaries if the tuition is unfortunatley lacking from a particular Mosod?

As an Askan, wouldn’t you jump at this oppurtunity?

working harder – I can’t imagine, the tuition crisis is a result of all the rich(same askanim???) looking for a tuition break??

Again, only the mosod would know of the money supplemented, parents would not be told that, hey were giving you 2 months free because someone else paid up.

The main idea is that all teachers and rabaim would be paid on a timely basis, if such a tzedakah is implemented.

But I have heard of instances where someone walked into a yeshiva and told the administration to randomly pick a family who was quite behind and then offered to pay the balance in full!!

So there are special people out there who do help out with this matter.

That’s unfortunate gavra at work, is it that askanim need to see the books(no trust?) or that the mosod is hiding something?

That’s a big issue with todays mosods. NO TRUST. All parents think that their tuition money goes in someones pocket for their car lease and not back into the building?

How did this happen? Maybe that’s why there IS tuition crisis!!

We all need to trust each other with nothing to hide.

    1. Is the issue publicity? That would be a sad state of affairs. So give them a plaque for subsidizing tuitions!! The greatest recognition out there!!! Hng it up above a classroom!!

    2. Growth is excpected, B’H, but certain areas of a mosod should have a more important priortity.

    3. Yeshivas need not publicize the amount given or what the debt was for that time frame. Parents should not relie on this fact of askanim support, but mosdo’s will be able to pay all teachers on time if supplemented.

But you are right that you cant control where people give their money. But this is the greatest tzedakah out there. Paying a teacher on time is basically giving them parnasa and what better form of tzedakah is better than that?

Instead of sending money to have someone say your name for 180 days at a kever, support a mosod!!!

The idea was also to get a tax deduction, which a grocery does not give, although that gesture was very nice of you, and unfourtunatley there are quite a few families out there with tuition problems, and with all the stories we have heard about Mosdoses closing up, I thought this idea would be benifical to both parties.

There are actually 3 parties who benefit.

    1. Check Writer

    2. Parent

    3. Mosod.

    Thanks.

Families that owe tuitions, for hardship reasons, checks can be written to the various Mosdos to pay down there balances, and both the family and the check writer can benefit.
