Shticky GuyParticipant
I hope to close the contest and give the subtitles in about an hour…
Psach lanu sha’ar b’eis ne’elas sha’ar…
ps Mishenichnas Adar Marbim Bisimcha! Happy chodesh!
Shticky GuyParticipantHi. Request for a subtitle please. Thanx. Pls make sure its a shticky one! Or maybe the one i posted in yesterday on the coffee oscars thread that suddenely vanished??? (88 – you know what I mean.) Thank you. I’ll bln commission a limerick in your honor on the limerick thread!
February 3, 2011 12:58 pm at 12:58 pm in reply to: Does Human Spellchecker Seem Like Praying Mantis? #735611Shticky GuyParticipantHi eclipse. Yes your new sub name is in response to the comment you made on the coffee oscars thread. (Post 202862 – Wow! I remembered how to find the post numbers!)
I think its a nice, humorous and really clever name. Kol hakavod. You deserve a sub name! (Would you have prefered Prolific Thread Opener?)
Shticky GuyParticipantWhen i used the words pen and bemuse
Some poetic license I did use
I really meant bemusement
And provided amusement
To guys with decaffeinated views
Bemuse is so different to behead
There was nothing wrong with what I said
On this there’s no pikpuk
Go learn English dikduk
Or revise with a dictionary instead!
But I must say you gave me a smile
Which lasted for oh quite a while
You guys are tremendous
Absolutely stupendous
As limerick upon limerick you pile
Yes I do always write with a pen
My poetry on a paper and then
I send it by mail
As quick as a snail
And attempt it on my dial up again
Why you think I live in old history
Is really one gigantic mystery
You call me old fashioned
Cos my ink it is rationed
My brother you’re not acting sister-y
Shticky GuyParticipantblinky started her limerick with a ‘when’
so she hadnt just picked up her pen
my alarm I do snooze
much to my wife’s bemuse
saying modeh ani over and over again… 🙁 / 🙂
Shticky GuyParticipantShlishi; I’ll give you another good example of overthreading of the same topic.
On the thread ‘cholent’ you’ll notice it was closed by the Key Master Y. W. Editor after 30 posts. Why? Well, see below…

February 2, 2011 3:12 pm at 3:12 pm in reply to: Amazing story with a well known Rosh Yeshiva! #824216Shticky GuyParticipantIts quite funny. On my screen, all I saw of the title of this thread was “Amazing story with a well”.
I thought it was to do with a well of water, maybe about eliezer and rivka or the be’er miryam etc.
Never mind. I suppose, as they say, ” all’s well that ends well… “
Shticky GuyParticipantI think that chayav inish the alcoholic
Was having a bit of a frolic
What is (s)he really
A bochur or a Bubby
When (s)he posts in those lims astronomic
(S)he earned the sub name of Tipsy
By posting like a wild gypsy
But a woman I think
Should change her best drink
To Evian, 7 Up or Pepsi
Is (s)he a super pretender
When (s)he writes as from the other gender
Its not what (s)he depicted
When I thought (s)he’s addicted
To whiskey. I dunno. I surrender!
We’re approaching the month(s) of Adar
Our best part of the year, by far
A time of great joy
From France to Illinois
Be prepared for the normal and bizarre.
When we all go out in costume
No one knows whom is whom
They dance in with a twirl
But is it boy or girl
We dont know, we can only assume.
A group of 80 came drinking hard stuff
And cigarettes they did light up and puff
But I’m not a shlemiel
It is all a spiel
They’re the screennames of poster Joseph!!!
Shticky GuyParticipantShlishi: I know that this has been posted before. Did you read my OP where I wrote that there are similar threads saying the same thing? Its not my link.
My whole point was that too many posters either didnt know about this search or knew but couldnt find it! The old search at the top of the page is for the entire YWN and not limited to the CR.
So i opened a thread where I posted the URL in the OP and asked for it to be made a sticky letovas hatzibur.
Shticky GuyParticipantI cant believe it! My idea has been listened to and my thread is now on the top of the cr! I’m famous!
SO SHTICKY IS NOW A STICKY!
I did it purely for the good of the coffeeroom and hope that many of you will now have a better coffeeroom experience because of it.
I know how frustrating it is not to be able to find a topic and I sometimes posted in on a topic only so that I should be able to find the thread in the future by clicking on my posting history!
Well I wont be turning up at the million man march, so the remaining nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine of you will have to march alone!
Shticky GuyParticipantDerech Hamelech: I like poppa_bar_abba’s way much better…
please try both before you decide which you prefer. They are the same! I’ve simply given you a link to chofetz chaim’s search page!
Shticky GuyParticipantYes a sticky means that the topic will stay permanently at the top of the cr board like the tehillim, divrei torah and Rules threads.
This has been requested before several times , but the mods have been so far unable or unwilling to listen to the democratic will of the posters.
I’m trying to organise a million man march and rally on this, and hope someone starts a new thread called the YWN crisis and shiduchim (which is solely to discuss this YWN dictatorship crisis, and only lists shidduchim to get ppl to open the thread…) Deja vous??
Seriously, there are too many threads on the same topic in the cr for example on ice cream, yiddish, purim costumes, mens threads, new/old/returning members, rhyming or poetry, identities, names, dates/shidduchim/shidduch jokes/walking girl to door/holding car door for date/funny shidduch stories etc etc.
So either the same things are being repeated over again which is just pointless and boring, or if they’re new ideas/thoughts, isnt it much better to post them on the old thread???
Shticky GuyParticipantNo it was a post that came out wrong so I asked the mods to delete it as soon as had I re-read it thru and realised. Thank you mods
Shticky GuyParticipantRe yishmael, of course reb yishmael was a tanna not amora, silly me. He actually wasnt the only tanna with that name either. And the longest serving kohen gadol who held his position for 80 years and went lifnai v’lifnim into the kodesh hakadashim 80 times on yom kippur was reb yishmael kohen gadol.
Shticky GuyParticipantsomeone’s gotta bring up the old ice cream thread. It was hysterical and worth reading!

Shticky GuyParticipant“Nobodys perfect. I’m nobody.”
kapusta
never stuffed
Queen Nobody, you stole my line! :~> :0] :~>
Shticky GuyParticipantI just discovered this ancient thread. Check out the names. Some familiar. Many not.
Check out out the link on page 1 to the previous ywn site. Its fascinating. And we can see how long some posters have been around! This is the original old/new posters with joseph, Queen Kapusta with her unstuffed cabbage, yossi z, dr pepper, baron fritz, chofetz chaim, smartcookie etc etc etc. Too many to list.
Mods: Its now just a few months away from YWN’S 5TH ANNIVERSARY! What do you have planned?
Shticky GuyParticipantNew posters = old posters? Goq are you moq?
Shticky GuyParticipant” But how many people that you know are called zevulun, dan or gad? Far less if any, isnt it… “
SJSinNYC: I know a Zevulun. My son’s middle name is Dan.
I know a zevulun also, and have 2 cousins called Dan (not Daniel). I just said its far less common than the other shevatim for some as yet unexplained reason.
Shticky GuyParticipantSure thing. And to practise regularly shloshim yom lifnei hachag…
Shticky GuyParticipantCan everyone please list names of posters that you havent noticed for a while. (Baron Fritz has now returned by the way).
Shticky GuyParticipantOk then if you insist
Shticky GuyParticipantWhy are some names very popular while others are not.
Take the Shevatim for example. Some of the most common names around today are shimon, levi, yehuda, naftali, asher, yosef and binyamin.
But how many people that you know are called zevulun, dan or gad? Far less if any, isnt it. Whats the reason for this?
Would anyone consider calling their son yishmael??
Why do I ask? Cos there was an amora called reb yishmael ben elisha (as brought in the gemara of avraham fried’s song Tanya omar reb yishmael ben elisha).
Why did elisha choose the name yishmael for his son? And why does nobody call their son yishmael after the heiliger amora reb yishmael?
Shticky GuyParticipantMetrodriver would you give your child any name from the torah?
Would you name your child eg after descendants of shem: arpachshad or lud or aram?
How about after sons of the shevatim: falu, chetzron, karmi, yachin, tzochar, tola, fuva, sered, yachle’el, shuni, etzbon, yishva, vriah, vecher, ashbel, mupim, chupim, ord, guni, shilem etc.
Or nesi’im eg chelon, shdeur, tzurishado, elyasaf, pedatzur, achira, etc
I’ll leave women’s names for another time
Shticky GuyParticipantOh no! Oh no! I have blundered
I didnt see the lims are all numbered
So I will not wait
But will congratulate
Yossi Z posted limerick FOUR HUNDRED!!! :~>
The ones posting in without fail
Are now all decidedly male
Where are all the women
Are they too busy slimmin’
To send in a rhyming email
( I’m assuming DY is a ???
Although er ken git der ?????
Cos then our best feeder
Would be called ??? ?????
And not ????? ,????? or ????? )
Shticky GuyParticipantI’m jumping and shouting hurray
At this most fantastic display
From the lim at the top
The new posts didnt stop
We have filled a whole page in 1 day!!!
If you look at the previous pages
Filling them all up took ages
Only once in a while
A new lim you would file
But right now the flow simply rages
Let us all keep up the pace
Of this mega limerick race
We could even say
Lets do a ‘daf’ each day
In this the thread most ace
===
Daas and yossi: amazing stuff esp the names one!
Ladies: WHERE ARE YOU ALL?
Shticky GuyParticipantthe aleph can allude to the av (father), while the bais can be said to refer to ‘ben’ or son… Hence… there is an allusion to the essential and correct relationship: father-to-son (or mother-to-daughter).
My wife pointed out that aleph can also stand for ‘aim’ (mother) and the bais can refer to ‘bas’, daughter, hence also alluding to the relationship between mother and daughter, and also in all directions; father to daughter and mother to son seeing as both father and mother begin with aleph while both son and daughter start with beis.
Shticky GuyParticipantOn abbreviated screen names for Blinky,
You said you cant have but lets see,
By your name does appear,
The sub Blinquie so its clear,
That from now you’ll be known as BB!
I was sure when I started my list,
There would be obvious names that I missed,
So I apologise,
To those talented guys,
It was an oversight I insist!
So sorry to you chayav inish,
I re-read my post with astonish,
I did add you 1st time,
Then reworded my rhyme,
I must buy you a bottle of Glenfiddich.
I did not include minyan gal,
I wait for her without mazal,
She has talent real decent,
But nothing of recent,
Which is a tremendous chaval.
Regarding my dear Mod 80,
He said he finds this thread too weighty,
So him I did not write,
Not at all out of spite,
It is nothing personal, matey.
Regarding leaving out flatbush dude,
I’m sorry that I was so rude,
You have also been quiet,
A limerick diet?,
What’s up? Are you not in the mood?
To anyone else that I missed,
Its not fair that you I dismissed,
You are all just great,
And have added real weight,
To this thread so keep on and persist.
Shticky GuyParticipantEclipse gr8 poem. I just clicked on this thread quickly cos I dont have much time right now. Why did you start a new thread and not post it on the poetry thread?
Shticky GuyParticipantDerech HaMelech are you male or female?
Shticky GuyParticipantHi Baron!
You’ve been kinda silent for a while…???
Welcome back!
Shticky GuyParticipantthe OP sets the tone
I wish! It doesnt take long for most threads to go off topic. Some even need restarting completely. Many times i’ve been suprised how a thread turns out
Shticky GuyParticipantIf you’re looking yourself to amuse,
And are not sure which website to choose,
There’s one most terrific,
I’ll be more specific,
Log onto Yeshiva World News.
The above mentioned site it contains,
Threads of fashion, humor and campaigns,
I’ll discuss it at length,
If to read you have strength,
And you wish to make use of your brains.
There is one particular thread,
Where some are just too scared to tread,
Its for only the gifted,
Who feel uplifted,
By showing that they’re miles ahead.
It must be the limerick competition,
Where those who have skill and ambition,
Can prove their great strength,
By discussing at length,
Any topic of their own volition.
So click on it now and peruse,
To read our opinions and news,
And once you’ve meandered,
And seen our standard,
You can then try to send us your views.
From the opening poster called blinky,
To regulars eclipse, oomis and smartcookie,
most posters inspire,
And you can admire,
Latecomers DY and Yossi Z.
Lets see who’s gonna be next,
At getting us smiling or vexed,
So if you are smart,
Please come & take part,
Reply now and post in your text.
Shticky GuyParticipantMODS – Its your site and you’re entitled to do as you wish.
But I’m really suprised that the opening post has been removed. It was very harmless satire that makes a really good and important point in a friendly way.
Several posters have thought so too (see above).
Any chance of a retrial please???
I’m sorry, it was cute, it was funny, it has been posted and deleted a number of times before. It is good satire, it is friendly. But it is inappropriate to use our Holy Avos and Imos for a chuckle, at least on this website.
Shticky GuyParticipantThus far from what I have found,
the best one at rhyming a sound,
is called Daas Yochid,
its a takeover bid,
I think HE’S the best poet around!
DY your lim to yossi is absolutely amazing! Keep it up!
Shticky GuyParticipantCalling on newies to the coffeeroom:
Please give us the reasons why you chose your names.
This is one of the most fascinating threads in the cr
January 26, 2011 1:30 pm at 1:30 pm in reply to: If This Is The Answer, What Was The Question #732077Shticky GuyParticipantWhen do we say chayavinishlivisumay?
WE say it only on purim so this would be a correct and fitting question to the answer.
As I posted on another thread, the 4th word (bepurya, on purim) is missing from your name
January 26, 2011 12:36 am at 12:36 am in reply to: If This Is The Answer, What Was The Question #732070Shticky GuyParticipantNew answer: Purim!!!
========
What could be the question?
Shticky GuyParticipantSorry Yochid but Yankel Maza said he doesnt know you and nor does any of his chevra. That makes us a rabim against you, and you know what chazal say “ YOCHID V’RABIM… Halocho k’RABIM !!! “
Shticky GuyParticipantor Genuine Occupational Qualification
or General Officer Quarters
or General Organization Questionnaire
Personally I think it stands for: Grandee of the National Order of Quebec.
Am I correst, GOQ? Sorry, TheGoq. Sorry, The(spaced out)Goq
Shticky GuyParticipantYes you went with Jackie Mason didnt you. Well sorry but you wouldnt have seen me in hubcap city anyway.
Ever been to Mauritius, the place after which heaven was copied? An idyllic destination, it has places with spectacular views and lush tropical vegetation, sandy beach islands surrounded by coral reefs and washed by turquoise waters.
Well I dont live there either
Shticky GuyParticipantDaas Yochid / Mod 80
Please show me how to find the url address for a post as DY did above
” http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/mods-mods/page/9#post-196694 “
Shticky GuyParticipantDaas yochid, I KNOW we’ve never met. Convinced. Has to be. Emphatically. Without a doubt. Cant be anything different. Absolutely. Bli shum sofek. Unquestionably.
Cos you’ve never been to my home town. You’ve never been to Puerto Rico in your life, have you?
Shticky GuyParticipantEclipse dont tell me… You look in the mirror expecting to see a stunning eclipse but all you see is a watermelon 🙂
Shticky GuyParticipantChayav, i like your new subscreen name, cos you havent got the word bepurya (on purim) in your name so it seems you have the chiyuv to be shikur at all times!
But I’d be really really worried if I were you!! Cos if the Goq, who went from ‘TheGoq’ to ‘The Goq’ earned himself the subscreen name ‘spaced out’ (though just for a short while), then you, who went from ‘chayavinishlivisumay’ to ‘chayav inish livisumay’ should be trembling with fear…
Shticky GuyParticipantThank you “poppa, sometimes a bit over the 80” :-]
havent heard from you for a while
