yitzchok2:
In Europe many women did not cover her hair.
In Europe very few if any boys learned in Kollel.
Those two don’t count, the first because even if it’s true, it’s against halacha, and the second because the ability to do so changed, and had it been this way in Europe they would have done so, too.
In Europe many women did not learn any Chumash.( only tzena renna)
With the start of the Bais Ya’akov they learned Chumash as well.
In Europe no one ate dips.
Was that meant as a joke?
screwdriverdelightParticipantdy, that would make it a ????? ????? ????? ?????, not a ?????.
screwdriverdelightParticipantoh, good point. I thought it was a continuation.
EDIT: and you revised the spelling, didn’t you?
without having seen your post
screwdriverdelightParticipantDY, I know it’s not, but is there any reason to differentiate between the two?
screwdriverdelightParticipantAgain: and all in all it was basically a dry sukkos Basically, as in “not totally”
And no, our MO Rav, once Joaquin was reported to be turning out to sea, did not say to dismantle succas and no one did. Don’t be motzayxsgem ra
I’m not sure what language that’s supposed to be, but if it’s a failed attempt at English, you seem to be accusing me of saying something I never remotely alluded to.
screwdriverdelightParticipantDY, that very MB says hakazat dam is m’sakein.
October 11, 2015 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm in reply to: do you ever look in the mirror and say "Why"? #1105290screwdriverdelightParticipantI sometimes look at posts and say Why? Why? Why?.
screwdriverdelightParticipantHey what happened here? I only posted this once.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI don’t usually get all preachy but I want to point out that the whole sukkos from like day two on, there were major storms predicted, especially the hurrican that was scheduled and all in all it was basically a dry sukkos, which leaves people like Health! calling people Henny Pennys, or people saying meteorologists don’t know what they’re doing, etc. However, I disagree. It’s quite possible that ?? ?? ??? ???? there should have been rain, even a hurricane, but due to Hasheim’s satisfaction in our doing His will, He cancelled it. If rain is a ???? ???? ???, and one who would attribute rain to natural occurrences would be “?????? ??? ????” then the same is true when the opposite occurs. We have to realize that this is a ??? from Hasheim and not a convenient natural coincidence.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI always wondered why walking in the rain on shabbos isn’t a problem of ????. I guess it’s ??? ????? maybe.
screwdriverdelightParticipantyou’re changing the story now? Seems suspicious…
screwdriverdelightParticipantmod,
actually said it myself
how?
screwdriverdelightParticipantEW2, you’re missing out on half the point of posting if someone knows who you are.
screwdriverdelightParticipantmods, I get why you deleted my second post (in effect proving my point) but what was wrong with the first?
You actually said it youself.
screwdriverdelightParticipantlooks like gogogo is now ephsurewhat
screwdriverdelightParticipantOn the first date, you talk about family and Israel. On the second date, you discuss Israel. By the third date, you should both know each other pretty well already, so talk about something else before Israel. On the fourth date, you talk about living in Israel. On the fifth, you take off your tie so she could see the real you and that’s a big enough step that you don’t have to talk about anything else. On the sixth date, you’re back to Israel again, but you could repeat everything you said on previous dates since it’s the next stage. From the sixth on, the shadchan will call you after each date asking if you’re all talked-out of Israel, and when both sides say yes, it’s engagement time. During engagement, depending on how frum you are, you’ll probably find yourself talking to your fiance and basically you just review all your dates in scrutinizing detail.
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhy should the permissibility of going on Har Habbayyis be decided based on where you live?
screwdriverdelightParticipantAnd I misspelled “too” for the third time in two days. I apologize to all.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI know, I kept on almost trampling on you. Boy, can you jump!
Why were you posting at 5 AM? Did it end that late?
screwdriverdelightParticipantI went to the simchas bais hashoeiva in stolin, boro park. FFor those unfamiliar with the proceedings there, they have one big “circle” (for lack of a better word–I guess ‘polygon’ would be more accurate) that snakes around the entire shul. [It’s very nice. People from all walks of life all dancing and holding hands and…whatever, it’s nice.]
I was there with a relative of mine named Aharon and I hereby publicly thank him for his vigilance in maintaining the proper snake. Because it inevitably gets messed up when you have to go backwards around a bend because you could easily lose the beat, plus, if people leave, you sometimes can’t figure out where you’re supposed to continue. But he, with a professional and talented air, guided me (and others), pointing out the way, even suggesting his own innovative spreading out or an extra twist when it got to dense, and he always kept the rhythm. He wasn’t one of those annoying people always trying to do something different or chiding others. He just kept an eye out for his surroundings and has that talent necessary to make it work, and I thank you, Aharon (I’ll make sure you read this), for your help and I could only say that if there were more people like you, the world would undoubtedly be a better place.
screwdriverdelightParticipanthey shopping, you’re Israeli? That’s cool.
screwdriverdelightParticipantthe same geder it is outside the coffee room.
screwdriverdelightParticipantGoq, that’s part of the question. Maybe mods are so superhuman that they neither bleed nor laugh.
screwdriverdelightParticipantthanks for clarifying, yekke2. It could have been because I did multiple submissions of the same post, because I kept getting slow down, you move to fast so I kept reposting it, unsure if it meant that it didn’t go throuigh.
screwdriverdelightParticipantThis thread is retarded.
Just the first post. The rest is very normal.
screwdriverdelightParticipanthey, mods have a sense of humor!
screwdriverdelightParticipantHow did this thread get split apart?
screwdriverdelightParticipantIs quoting non-Jewish books cause for censure?
screwdriverdelightParticipantThen there are all those whose pages don’t show any of their posts.
screwdriverdelightParticipantThere are 412 pages. The first page has 50 threads, the 412th has 48. I assumed all but the last had 50. (411)(50)+48
screwdriverdelightParticipantAccording to my calculations, there should be 20,598 threads.
screwdriverdelightParticipantso before I quoted something from the maharsha, then said it didn’t exist. Today I saw where I had seen it. The he’aros r’ elyashiv, sukkah 29a, quoting a radvaz (not the maharsha). he doesn’t say where it is.
screwdriverdelightParticipantoomis This is the fourth of four lunar eclipses in a years time which is called a blood moon tetrad. A tetrad is very rare. I believe there have been only 7 tetrads in the last 2000 years. that sounds contradictory. Is a tetrad rare or not?
screwdriverdelightParticipantI got modded in the deja vu thread. Was it because I quoted a non-Jewish book?
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhat is the chilik between Divrei Torah and Chasidus?
What’s the similarity?
screwdriverdelightParticipantmost disappointing. I saw the moon clearly last night at 9:11 CST
screwdriverdelightParticipant??? ????? ???? is probably a hybrid of ????? ???? and ??? ???.
screwdriverdelightParticipant??? ??: ??? ?”? ?? ?????
screwdriverdelightParticipantlearning to play the trumpet
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhen chickens are transferred from one place to another, I [honestly don’t have a clue, but still] am sure that the crate method is applied, so this isn’t a kapparos problem.
screwdriverdelightParticipant????? ????? ??? ? ???? ???
quotes the Chazon Ish as saying that personal requests are permitted on r”h.
screwdriverdelightParticipantJoseph, you need a written confession from me? Here goes:
My above argument comparing taking food home from a b’ris to taking food home from a y”t s’udah was erroneous, as Joseph so accurately pointed out.
September 18, 2015 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm in reply to: Why is everybody anti anti-vaccine theories, a dissertation #1100480screwdriverdelightParticipantIn the past GOP debate, Ben Carson* denied any link between vaccines and autism but after being challenged admitted that vaccines should be administered in smaller doses over a longer period of time. He didn’t say why.
*not that I like him, or anything.
screwdriverdelightParticipantIt’s strange that it’s common. The ba’alei simchos only bring the wrappings once the custom has become widespread. No one wants to be the grump who posts a sign that says, “Attn. everyone: I am providing a s’udah for the bris, not all your meals for the day.”
screwdriverdelightParticipantTrue. You asked here about the originality as well. I only saw the part as to what they are.
screwdriverdelightParticipantHealth, whom exactly do you think OP was addressing?
screwdriverdelightParticipantJoseph, if you ever eat out on Yom Tov, in middle of the meal wordlessly take a napkin and wrap up a piece of meat to take home. It’s a mitzvah to eat on Yom Tov.
screwdriverdelightParticipantYou forgot about this one?
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/change-of-pronunciation
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhat’s questionable about it?
screwdriverdelightParticipantThat it’s strange.
