shmarents def have a big chailek but its possible there were other issues the OTD kid had instead. im not so involved with these kids but in my limited experience nobody really goes off the derech cause of shittos nowadays. its usually something more psychological.

lmayseh, u know anyone that ended up really stopping the e-cig eventually? im looking into it a little and it seems like people end up just smoking e-cigs as a replacement for the real thing but never quit.

i cud be wrong but this is my analysis on a small scale study

Smartphones and their games in particular are very addictive. Flappy Bird creator got rid of it for just that reason. All the games that make it are cute little games that keeps u at it just because of that- theyre just cute little games.

Point is, the phone itself is a cause. People who weren’t distracted by other things so often are now constantly iphoning.

btw the smartphone stupidphone thing is really overdone and just sounds like an old rebbe

maskim WIY. if asking her husband about her isnt so halachacly simple, i think recieving cookies/her making cookies for friends husband is kinda dangerous. even from a non halachic stance i think its weird. And ya, lots of people dont have mixed couple meals expecialy if theyre both young

first bais haleivi on ki sisa speaks about giving/understanding reasons to mitzvos at length. Bkitzur, like what DY is saying- first comes the mitzva, chok vloy yaavor. After you understand that nothing will change based on any reason you give, only then can you start getting into taamie hamitzvos . vayin sham.

does anyone have any real ideas besides for “lose weight”? this is a common problem with many jewish people and solutions wud be realy helpful. suspenders arent (isnt?) so practical cause when someones big and they wear suspenders they become a “suspenders guy”. most people dont wanna be restricted to that.

i dont know… theres a clear misconception that shadchanim are evil money hungry monsters. when a shadchan mentions money right away people will jump the gun and be like “here we go, all they see is money and were just merchandise to peddle”

calm down, its not an attack. i thought about it a little and its possible im wrong, but i strongly believe that when someone uses the word “modern” to label a person it usualy means MO, and not “current”, even if it is preceeded with the word “yeshivish”. il reiterate that i DONT know what it DOES mean though

oyoyoyooy: see my earlier answer. Additionally, at all gatherings that I have seen that have occurred in shuls, I have always seen EVERYONE -including gentiles- wear a yarmulka.

Herr Rabiner, i did. See my earlier answer, “my guess is that they made up doing so is derech eretz, not us.” Again, even if what you say about everyone YOU saw wearing one is true, i still believe its a mistake on their part and they just look ignorant. Regardless, i still cant believe you lumped this together with everything else. ayin l’ail.
