I dont think that they do, but they should!
mybatMemberIsnt calabasas very expensive?
mybatMemberive been to LA many times and its a really nice place. Much nicer than say brooklyn. Ive never really noticed any pritzus that was worse than anywhere else. But if you are seriously thinking of moving you would have to take trip ot there with your wife to see what types of schools there are, where you would live and to feel the ambience.
About moving kids schools….. It really depends on the ages, but it is a rough change, so keep that in mind as well.
mybatMemberYou get married to give everything you have and to do the ultimate kindess. Because the more you give the more you will love that person. Either to your spouse or to your kids.
mybatMemberOomis, yes,”by the husband”.
mybatMemberTzippi
I must say that I totally agree with that fact that they try to make you feel guilty if youre a stay at home mom.
Enjoy your kids and be with them if you are able to.
One of the conditions of a kesuba is financial support of the husband. (Whether they teach that clause in sem or not is something else…..)
mybatMemberHashemlovesme,
A piece of advice, if your parents cant support you (or you dont want them to) look for a guy who can make a living and support a family. Trust me its not a mitzvah to live without money.
From personal experience my parents couldnt have supported me so i looked for a guy who works and guess what? My husband turned out to be a wonderful husband and a great father b’h.
mybatMemberOk, this is kol nidrei, but it went for about $50,000.
September 19, 2010 2:38 pm at 2:38 pm in reply to: Clearing up a few myths regarding Tznius problems #696835mybatMemberMost girls do not understand what happens to a male when they look too good. If they would understand, most would be more than happy to comply. (BYs do NOT explain anything about how a mans mind works)
September 17, 2010 7:48 pm at 7:48 pm in reply to: Clearing up a few myths regarding Tznius problems #696818mybatMemberWomen dont dress 100% to get reactions from men, true they also dress for their peers.
However the BY environment doesnt really prepare them to understand a mans reaction to an attractive woman. Its called being naive.
I remember in highschool girls saying that negiah is a chumra. (Very religious school)
They dress like that cuz they want to look pretty, its as simple as that.
September 17, 2010 1:49 am at 1:49 am in reply to: Why don't heimeishe ladies use baby slings to schlep babies? #696211mybatMemberDont worry sms, i have had all non epidural deliveries, but during my first i definitly should have had an epidural. The Dr was a little nuts and he had me with oxytocin dripping in the IV for 10 hrs! It was really terrible. For my next pregnancies I changed Drs. I had natural deliveries in the hospital without any IV.
September 16, 2010 1:31 am at 1:31 am in reply to: Why don't heimeishe ladies use baby slings to schlep babies? #696198mybatMemberWow sjs! Can I be a crunchy too? (I just do #1 and 2)
As for the baby sling, someone gave me an infanti one when my baby was born and I changed it because I really wouldnt use it simply because I am in a very car oriented society. Although if I see I would need it I can always go out and buy one.
mybatMemberSjs, we as women are not in the position to judge mens behavior, simply because we do not have that yetzer hora.
mybatMemberWhere do you get these films?
mybatMemberBath and massage, supper, storybook, bathroom and brushing teeth, shema and a little song then i ask each kid what was their favorite part of the day, hug and kiss and goodnight.
mybatMemberMister ploni, very true when you are going out with the guy I would also recommend noticing his character and checking to see if he’s not lazy!
Life goes up and down, one day a person could have money and health and chas veshalom the next day it could be gone but his character and his go get it attitude will always be there.
mybatMemberRestaurants also need a very big initial investment. How about biotechnology?
mybatMemberI am all for tznius and I myself am very careful with what I wear. But why is it that the women that are always preaching about are usually a bit unattractive? Why can’t there be someone who is dressed beautifully and tznius at the same time to be an example to the young girls?
I knew someone who was really an example but she tragically passed away. Instead of whining let’s do something and be examples. Wear a nice wig everyday and try to wear it in a reasonable length, dress nicely with tznius, put on makeup and don’t go around looking like a shlump. You be the role model. Shlumpiness isn’t tznius.

mybatMemberSeriously, we really need ppl in NY….
mybatMemberIn NY of course! 🙂
mybatMemberWe are looking to hire people in sales. If the mods allow please contact me for more info.

There are certain diseases that people could transmit to their spouse if they had a past. That is the reality. Many of these diseases could not even come up right away, it could take many years. A girl who is marrying someone wouldn’t even imagine that she is being put at risk. Now is that fair?
Now in Mexico, before you get married the govt makes you take a blood test to make sure you are not HIV positive. That is for only one of the many infections that could be transmited. Suppose someone comes out positive? Suppose his wife comes up with something after being married for a few years? What should they do, blame it on a blood transfusion? I really don’t want to imagine what that shalom bayis will be like then.
mybatMemberWIY suppose everything you say is correct? What about the medical aspects involved?
mybatMemberShilos is good but so is pats and the gondola are amazing!
mybatMemberNot to say that many points being brought up aren’t true. But to say that there were never OTDs? Look at all of the non observant or assimilated jews. They all had ancestors or grandparents who were religious and at some point left it all.
mybatMemberYes oomis, b”h like you.
Sacrilege, my point exactly. Don’t vetoe everything because of peer pressure, you never know what Hashem really has in store for you.
mybatMemberSephardic community center on ocean pky.
mybatMemberSacrilege, I am also a FFB and my husband is a BT. My in laws are traditional, their house is 100% kosher. They used to go to a conservative shul but when their son started becoming more religious they started going to an orthodox shul. In the beginning they were really traumatized that their son who they raised suddenly went “crazy”. But now when they see him married and they see their grandchildren they are thrilled.since my husband works with his father they really have a very close relationship and my father inlaw, even though he is not “religious” is one of the most decent, honest, hardworking and giving person that I know. He gives tzedaka to poor brides and to kolel couples. Everyone who meets him gets blown away with the quality of person that he is.
And my ashkenaz (I’m syrian), BT husband, well let’s just say…… How many people would say NO to such a match without even meeting the person?
mybatMemberHaven’t been in NY in a while! Wow! Could help you out with restaurants in LA or Mexico city! Maybe I should escape to NY with the Mr. And leave the kids for a few days, it really sounds appealing!!
Here all restaurants have mashgiach temidis except for 1 or 2.
mybatMemberI heard about the nuts on r”h, but never heard about the vinegar and during the whole month either. (Subsitute with lemon juice)
mybatMemberNo marriage does not heal wounds but a supportive spouse can help a person overcome certain non-major issues.
I repeat NON-MAJOR issues.
mybatMemberSince upper arms are like upper legs, why doesn’t anyone wear skirts on their arms? Or maybe we should start a trend!
mybatMemberI couldn’t agree with you more oomis.
August 31, 2010 1:05 pm at 1:05 pm in reply to: Custom or very good sheitles for under $1000 #739966mybatMemberOnce I bought a judy ponytail for about $600, but you really can’t compare it to more expensive brands like shevys.I guess you get what you pay for and for everyday you really don’t need more.
mybatMemberIn mexico city kindergarten for 2 kids $1000 a month. That would be about $6000 a year per kid (including costs of incrptions)
Elementary and high school is more ezpensive. If you want a discount you must take credit card statements, passports(to see how much you travel), show what car you drive, etc.
mybatMemberActually shells are great! You can buy any clothing anywhere and still look great!

August 26, 2010 1:10 am at 1:10 am in reply to: Will Rav Amnon Yitzchak manage to change the music industry? #701526mybatMemberBut hasn’t “jewish music” always been influenced by the country where the jews are living? Why is ashkenaz music or chazanut so similar to eastern europe/russian music and why is sephardic music or chazanut so similar to middle eastern music?
mybatMemberAbout the drowning issue, isn’t it a mitzva from the torah to teach your children to swim?? How could it be that so many people-adults (especially in the NY-NJ areas) who never learned how to swim? And it doesn’t end there but the children don’t learn how to swim either!! Parents have an obligation to teach or to pay for swimming classes.
Now about mixed swimming, I have never heard of ANY heter allowing mixed swimming or to go places where people are inapropiatly dressed. Even if the person who isn’t dressed correctly is an 80 year old or weighs 300 lbs it is not allowed. Period.
August 24, 2010 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm in reply to: Will Rav Amnon Yitzchak manage to change the music industry? #701522mybatMemberSo no more jewish music? Ok so goyim music is now allowed? Inneresting,..,,
No seriously you really can’t assur every kosher outlet, it really doesn’t work like that.
mybatMemberWell my younger sister got engaged before me.she was 18 and I was 20, I made her shidduch with her husband and although people would say weird comments I didn’t regret it and I was very happy for her. I would never be able to have married a guy like her husband and when I married my hisband I understood the final plan. He’s only 6 months older than me and he’s a BT so I couldn’t have gone out with him before.
mybatMemberI don’t understand why you don’t just go to a different store since its so inappropriate and uncomfortable?
mybatMemberWe are looking for sales representatives in the NY, NJ area, if anyone is interested maybe the mods could make the connection and we could give more information.
mybatMemberThe problem is when a sephardic girl marries an ashkenaz guy! She can’t eat rice or anything anymore!! 🙂
mybatMemberUniversal studios, anaheim, Santa Monica Pier.
mybatMemberLegoland or seaworld in san Diego, san fransisco golden gate bridge and fishermens wharf, you could also go somewhere like mammoth in yellowstone national park
mybatMemberMy 4 year old loves sushi!
