my point is that you can’t force the kids to learn a trade their parents don’t want them to learn (it’s the parents job to teach them a trade, it’s an explicit gemara in the 4th perek of kiddushin)
which mitzvah is this,
actually a gabbai tzedaka has to be a Talmid Chochom (It’s a gemara in Bava Basra I think)
That was my point as well. They are teaching children a trade, as per Halacha.

but they aren’t the ones giving, if you want to teach them about giving tzedakah to others take them on a trip and give tzedakah, or go to tomchei shabbos, or better yet when a meshulach comes to the door bring him in give him a drink and have your kids their when you write the check and explain to them you’re doing a very important mitzvah of giving tzedakah

there was a time I used to play tetris so much I was dreaming Tetris

it’s actually isn’t encouraged the heter for a siyum is only if you started before the 9 days and just happen to be making a siyum or for some other reason like a yahrtzeit and even then it’s frowned upon (unless youre in a camp)

maybe they should enlist bachurim to do it like Ner Yisrael around Purim time and Pesach time where they collect for ner Yisrael’s sister city Yahud in Israel (Bachurim have more of a choice and gives them an opportunity to build communication and selling skills, instead of just running up to someone and begging like a lot of kids do)
