Let’s see here, on one side of the coin we have an actual source located in the Torah that allows us to eat meat, no clause anywhere stating that it was conditional, over 3,000 years of Torah personalities that ate meat and various mitzvohs in the Torah connected to shechitah, korbonos and kashrus. On the other side have a few individuals who have strong opinions, no sources (despite being asking to provide one) other than a prohibition that was given to a world that was destined for destruction and lets not forget the name calling and trying to make people feel bad about themselves for not agreeing with them.

So I’m sorry that I haven’t bought into this bologna.

I don’t understand this either. I also don’t understand why Lakewood of all places that should be promoting a Kollel lifestyle would allow this to happen. This doens’t mean that they should be wearing rags and shmatas but it means that they could be putting that extra $2,000 towards (and I not sure if 1,000 is outrageous for a sheitel or not) rent, food or tuition (which the Lakewood schools always have such a hard time making ends meet) This also goes for the expensive purses that the in club must have, the $10,000 dollar seforim shanks, dresses and lady clothing that must be designer as well as the designer baby clothing.

I have seen this first hand and was shocked that while at my cousins wedding I had to take my children away from the kitchen (where the photographer was set up) because of the foul language that was being spewed by the “frum” staff. Imaginge thier embarrassment as they tried explain to thier non religous relatives why the man with the peyos and beard swore like a sailor.

What I don’t understand is why this would even need awareness in the first place. Having babies is a very serious thing and long before the 9th month there should be a plan of action to take care of mother, baby and other children as well. The only thing that I dissagree on is the point about the children will be ok for a week being someplace else. If it is a place that they are familiar with or older so to understand what is happening, then I’m fine with it. Remember the birth and introduction of a new baby is a major event, toddlers and small children need the comfort of their familiar surroundings as well an adult they recognize well. This is why it is so important for proper planning. You may have to think creatively but it might be wiser to send the mother and new baby away (her parents, close relative or friend) and let the Father take care of the kids.

Plus , and I know that I’m going to get yelled at for saying this, but….maybe there shouldn’t be such a push to have kids back to back to each other. Just like it’s not fair to the mother who just had a baby to have to deal with toddlers days after a birth, it’s not fair to the other kids to have to share their mother with a new baby. The Gemorah says a women should wait 2 years between kids so that she will be able to nurse the other child before it needs to incubate another baby.

just to add a point about embarrassement, what about the child (or in this case girl ) who is hurt because no school will take them . It’s not about money but due to politics and the fact that their parents are not as Yeshivish as the rest. If a student has a good record for good middos and modesty , has a good work ethic and would like to go to such a school, what right do they have to deny her an education? Plus being on the blacklist since no schools are taking her at this late of date, imagine how she feels watching all her friends buy thier uniforms and books while she is waiting…and waiting to see if she has any school to go to.
