Letakein GirlParticipant
First off, know that this is a very common problem amongst teens. Parents have a hard time switching from parenting children to parenting teens, which often has disastrous effects on the child.
Do you have a mechaneches that you respect to talk to about this?
Letakein GirlParticipantMiriam, could you do me a huge favor? I have four tehillim names written down in my siddur in school- four sweet, good, frum girls that haven’t found their zivugim, despite the fact that they’ve been looking for years.
If I post them tommorow, will you please say a perek of tehillim for them? It would mean the world to me to have a special person like you, who seems to have overcome much adversity, daven for them.
Hatzlachah!
Letakein GirlParticipantYaakov Shwekey.
Letakein GirlParticipantYou’re right, a maamin. I’m sorry kj, that was a rather horrible joke…
🙁
Letakein GirlParticipantA self hating jew would be the correct term…
Letakein GirlParticipantMe too.
(?)
Letakein GirlParticipantYYBC, beautiful post!
Sam, please stop with the propaganda! It’s ridiculous for you to say that the level of sinas chinam present in today’s generation is worse than it was at the time of the Bais Hamikdash’s destruction.
1. You weren’t there when the BHMK was destroyed.
2. I doubt that it is worse. I can’t see the story of Bar Kamtza happening in today’s generation.
Letakein GirlParticipantKj…
Ugh biting my tongue SO hard right now.
Anyways. On a diff note, no one other than HaShem knows why we’re still stuck in Galus. But I would guess that it has something to do with the fact that there’s still sinas chinam…

Letakein GirlParticipantI found it on YouTube, but it’s a really bad version.
It was posted by Oorah, and it’s entitled “The Marvelous Middos Machine Episode 3 Part 2 from Oorah’s Shmorg”
Letakein GirlParticipantYYBC,
Um, what?!
Letakein GirlParticipantThanks, smile.
Letakein GirlParticipantThank you to those teachers that actually care about their students, and are available whenever their students need help, whether it’s scholastically, emotionally, hormonally (lol- when they’re dealing wth teens, that’s pretty much all there is :), or in any other way.
Just a note to teachers- if you notice one of your students looking down, please reach out to them. Even if they rebuff your attempts to reach out to them, rest assured that they appreciate it.
Letakein GirlParticipantSmile, I wonder if know how lucky you are to have a teacher like that, that you can ask all of your questions to. I just had a really bad experience with a teacher of mine (after I asked a question abt Judaism) and… Gosh you’re so lucky.
Letakein GirlParticipantIn am an ancient wall of stone stop a hill so high
And if you listen with your heart you just may hear my cry
Where has the Bais Hamikdash gone
I stand here all alone
Now only ahavas yisrael can build it once again
Together, together
We stood by Har Sinai my daughters and sons
Forever, forever
We must stand together forever as one
That’s the beginning of the song that YYBC is referring to. I don’t remember the end, but it’s a very well know song so someone else is bound to post it.
Letakein GirlParticipantRebbetzin Samet has an amazing book on kibbud av v’eim- My Father, My Mother, and I.
January 23, 2015 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm in reply to: what are the job options for a bais yaakov type girl? #1055340Letakein GirlParticipantDiscuss that with your friends in late night DMCs, curious yenta.
And I don’t see why most people on this thread think that unless one has a degree, they can’t succeed in life. That’s awfully closed minded!
January 21, 2015 4:06 am at 4:06 am in reply to: Is Being Right More Important than getting along? #1053076Letakein GirlParticipantI’m so happy for you, Goq! You really deserve this. 🙂
Wishing you much hatzlachah.
Letakein GirlParticipantHey Sidi! So great to see you again.
I’m really busy these days but it’s almost midwinter vacation! The cr will be full of bored teens… It’s gonna be awesome.
Letakein GirlParticipantWhen you ask around you’ll hear that they are very yeshivish, but it is NOT true! They have all different types.
Their TC program (going into 10th and 11th) is really, really good. It’s known for being the best tc program in the Catskills.
Regular camp is not as great… The food is awful (like any other camp.) canteen is pretty decent, though.
The staff is mostly very warm and caring.
Letakein GirlParticipantDaMoshe,
Think about what you’d feel like if you were on the receiving end of your post.
It’s lovely seeing you again, kj. Just like the old times… 😉
Letakein GirlParticipantAm I right in assuming it was Yummy that got married?
Letakein GirlParticipantI might be wrong about this, but I don’t think chassidish girls marry at 15.
Letakein GirlParticipantThe CR changed dramatically every few months cuz people are constantly joining and leaving… We just have to wait this cycle out. Things have to change sometime soon!
Letakein GirlParticipantBas Mikrah does not have a lot of Sephardic girls! They’ve been primarily yeshivish for as long as I can remember.
They have a few girls from each “type” in every class.

Oh come ON!!! You can’t be serious. I am not eloquent like Vogue and Neutiquam, so I will leave it to them to refute your argument. I just want to say that you are not being realistic.
December 26, 2014 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm in reply to: There is nothing wrong with ….and driving a car..take it from me. #1050601Letakein GirlParticipantI once asked a chassidish relative of mine about this custom. She said that in the olden days, women didn’t drive wagons, so too women shouldn’t drive cars. I asked her why it’s wrong for women to drive wagons/cars and she said that a woman’s place is at home, it’s not tzanuah for her to be driving.
I don’t really get the whole concept, but whatever.

Letakein GirlParticipantSo awesome meeting you, p101! You haven’t posted much, but just from your posts on the thread about Nechama Cohen I can see that you’re my kinda person.
Don’t worry about being extra humorous or inspiring or whatever when you post! Just share what you think- before long, you’ll be a part of the gang!

(Yes I am kidding.)
Letakein GirlParticipantEftach,
The cr isn’t the same without you… Hey, yoU got married two weeks ago, right? So how’s married life treating you? To borrow shopping’s terminology earlier in this thread, I hope your husband is treating you like the gem you are!

December 22, 2014 4:33 am at 4:33 am in reply to: PAA's not-always-in-context Coffee Room Report Card Comments #1156698Letakein GirlParticipantOmigosh this thread is PAINFUL! You guys are so technical… You’re all like “when I said X I meant Y. The context in which it was stated was confusing. Bla bla bla.”
(maybe I’m just jealous of your IQs.)
Letakein GirlParticipant+1 kj
December 22, 2014 2:17 am at 2:17 am in reply to: Readers of YWN, you're cordially invited to join us here in the Coffee Room! #1049406Letakein GirlParticipantAw thanks SDD, that’s really sweet of you.
Bump!
Letakein GirlParticipantB”H!
Thanks for sharing.
Letakein GirlParticipantComlink,
No kidding.
Letakein GirlParticipantOish! Dunno how it happened, but in my previous post I wrote “subtitle” instead of “screennname.”
Sincerest apologies…
Letakein GirlParticipantBecause we’re getting closer to Mashiach’s coming.
And so that we’ll be able to have bechira. If it was black and white (lots of torah learning= peace and stability, lack of torah learning= antisemitism rises) then Hashem wouldn’t be able to reward us for keeping the Torah, because the yetzer hara wouldn’t have enough power that it would be a nisayon for us.
And as a side point- BH we are blessed and for the most part, our day to day lives aren’t fraught with danger.
Letakein GirlParticipantCongrats!
I’m assuming you’re an old timer with a new subtitle, based on the fact that you knew about subtitles.
I may be wrong, though. I guess we’ll find out!
Letakein GirlParticipantGorgeous, thanks for sharing!
Chevi Garfinkel has an amazing Shiur on this topic on Torah Anytime, entitled “Chanuka.”
Letakein GirlParticipantThank you so much for posting that, a maamin! It’s so beautiful. I love Rebbetzin Mizrachi’s shiurim; they’re so full of warmth.
Letakein GirlParticipantHey, shabbos is what counts anyways.
I think it’s amazing that you lasted so long!
Wishing you much hatzlachah.
Letakein GirlParticipantHey sidi!
You still keeping up that no-nail-biting campaign?
Letakein GirlParticipantGoldilocks,
Sidi was kidding…
Letakein GirlParticipantI think I remember Eftach got married recently, no? So she’s doing the same disappearing act that Streekgeek did.
I dunno about randomex, though.
Letakein GirlParticipantShopping,
First of all, hi! So awesome seeing you here. How’s life?
Second, did you fit the second part of that quote into the song, too? (Pick up your head, princess- your tiara is falling.)
Letakein GirlParticipantAw thanks kj.
How’s your new alias treating you?
😉
