You must be careful with talent shows. There are always a few talented kids, but for every kid with talent, there are two who don’t. Please don’t let the kids who don’t shine in any particular avenue feel inferior.
doleofyouParticipantI certainly hope that Rabbi Dessler never said such a thing, and until I see it inside I will believe it not.
There is no such thing as “Right” and “Wrong” when it comes to Vanilla/Chocolate ice cream. If you have a choice, you can choose whichever and get equal Gan Eden. There is no Rotzon Hashem in a Green/Red jumper.
I highly, highly doubt that Reb Dessler said such a thing.
doleofyouParticipantI pity anyone who can be summed up in one word.

Yesterday, I bumped a thread to make a joke about the subject line, not really relevant to the thread at all. Meanwhile, nobody got the joke and everybody’s busy debating the original topic. Oh well…
doleofyouParticipant300,000… We’ve hit about 600,000 by now! Wow!
doleofyouParticipantThank you Comlinx! I didn’t think anybody would notice I was back! 🙂 I am not a regular poster, I am not a funny poster, I just add my two cents every now and again…
doleofyouParticipantA good what?
doleofyouParticipantSirvodmort, I hope Syag was right that you posted in the wrong thread, because the only other interpretation sounds like you’re poking fun on the concept of the danger. The multibillion dollar industry doesn’t write “smoking kills”, “smoking harms pregnancies” and other hopefully offputting facts on their boxes for fun. Of course it is dangerous. Just because some get away with it doesn’t make it safe. A very insensitive thought. The gedolim didn’t ban it because they didn’t like the smell.
doleofyouParticipant“Who knows?”
“This is true… reputed…”
Hmmmm. I doubt it.

doleofyouParticipantTrue story heard from eyewitess:
Man died young in a car crash. At the Shiva, somebody asked his brother: “So if you could see him one more time, what would you say to him?”
The brother, who had a sense of humour, shouted “Take the train, <Ploni>, take the train!!”.
Honestly, some people really know how to ask stupid questions.
doleofyouParticipant‘are you serious?’ – No, i was just talking rubbish for the past ten minutes. And if was trying to fool you, i’ll tell you now cos you asked so nicely.
doleofyouParticipantI know from personal experience that information is almost totally useless. How can we marry guys we don’t know at all? Do the parents at least meet with the guy/girl for some time before allowing the shiduch through?
doleofyouParticipantI once heard that schitah doesn’t hurt the animal at all, (but that is only by kosher animals)
doleofyouParticipantMazal tov, hope you have lots of nachas from your child, and a great yom tov!

doleofyouParticipantwhy would Hashem want you to be a veg? Surely one is allowed to live a bit with character and personality?
doleofyouParticipantheavybrisker, cozimjewish – What kind of “PEOPLE” do you like. Therefore cats excluded, and robots automatically excluded too. Please stick to subject at hand!
doleofyouParticipant@ivory and @eftachbechinor seem to have two different definitions of sensitive. The OP (eftach) defined it as “Sensitive as in tender-hearted, possessing a finely-tuned ear for the subtle beauty in this world, with a sensitive soul, and made up of layers of depth. The type who get touched by real music.”. @ivory seems to be looking more for qualities that would make a good husband, including “sensitive” there, which would seem that she means more emotionally sensitive.
Eftach – Not really sure why anything you described is ‘sensitive’. I am with ivory on this one.
