There’s a famous shiur how we learn many lessons from technology to help us better understand that ??? ???? ???? ????? ??? ?????? ???? ?????? (Pirkei Avos 2:1).

-Lesson of the importance of time from the airplane.

Come a minute late and you’re too late.

    -Lesson from the telephone:

the importance of your words: what’s said here is heard there.

    -Lessons from the internet:

-Whatever is put out there is open knowledge.

-Your actions/words here may have an effect on someone far away

    -video

All our deeds are on video

    etc.

(I’m rushing, perhaps someone else can finish this thought)

You’re welcome. I’m glad it helped.

Just realize that EVERYONE in life is confronted with questions they prefer not answering, albeit different in nature.(How much do you earn, what did your mother look like when she died, etc.)

    You’re not alone.

“What do you think it is and should I take anti-biotics.”

    MODS

    =====

My opinion is that one should first figure out what the problem is before considering taking antibiotics. Taking antibiotics unnecessarily can make the body more resistant and less effective in future rounds of those antibiotics.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this opinion IMHO.

But there was something definitely wrong in the OP’s response.

And look whose comment was pulled and which vitriolic posts remain? Really?

“how should an only child answer a question about siblings?”

Q: What do your siblings do?

A1:I wasn’t aware I had any, are you?(while maintaining eye contact)

A2:I wasn’t blessed with any (while maintaining eye contact)

A3: You are assuming that I have some.

A4: I had a sib who passed (if true, they’ll stop pronto)

    A5: What do yours do?

A6: Am I my brother’s keeper? (humorously, then change the subject)

It’s important to feel “armed” with responses and empowered, IMHO.

    Would any of these work?

Thank you SO much for your words; you’ve actually helped me very much.

Just last night I received a call from Australia, of all places, to speak on a Yiddish radio show on the experience, and I could only think “Not a chance.”

Many people see things differently and alter their views based upon experience. But with time and support, the night terrors should diminish. Many people were affected the same way as you describe.

PTSD and depression sufferers both claim that those who have never experienced either usually tell them to “get over it.”

But you are in a MUCH better position now that you know differently to help those who are both suffering and those who don’t get it but mean well.

May I ask if you were there in person?

May you have hatzlacha in all your endeavors.

    (Dvarim 21:15)

The first-born “?????” is written ???, without the vuv.

The VILNA GAON sees a hint to the DOUBLE portion of the B’chor in

the letters of the word B’CHOR: BES-CHAF-RESH.

Each letter is double the letter before it in the alphabet:

BES (2) is double ALEF (1),

CHAF (20) is double YUD (10),

REISH (200) is double KUF (100).

(No other letters are double their predecessors in the ?? ??.)

    I’m glad it helped, MP.

I’m wondering if the following is acceptable to you when encountering any uncomfortable question:

-“I appreciate your interest, but I prefer not discussing it now”

-answer humorously. E.g., “I’ll tell you what my father DOESN’T do…dishes and windows!”

    -change the subject

-turn the conversation back to the “yente” and ask questions about them. Many times people like this love to talk about themselves.

    Hope this helps.

You get a lot of credit trying to do the right thing under difficult circumstances.

The posters above gave great ideas:

    -change the subject

    -be consistent

-ask them to refrain because it makes you uncomfortable (this shouldn’t sound “holier than thou” to them)

R Twerski is definitely brilliant and a true mentch. His title is

    The Shame Borne in Silence.

The silence is definitely getting louder, but there’s more work to be done. The video apparently is testimony to that.

I’m grateful that we have such supportive posters here in the CR who are so helpful to those posting here with these issues.

Your poem should definitely be published

Your message that Jews not feel arbitrarily punished

With themes of hope and trust that you’ve cleverly woven

We should believe in the Justice and continue to daven
