The posts have been restored in the interim. At the time I had written, they had indeed vanished. Usually one can track the changes, since you might be skeptical that what I am saying is indeed true.
The OP for the DA thread was there earlier, but it is currently gone.

I am curious what was found wrong with it today as opposed to yesterday, and in general why a PORTION of a post can’t be deleted rather than the entire one.
I didn’t understand why some posts on the Smile thread were pulled; they were not rude nor insulting. Au contraire, they were full of sharing smiles & positive cheer.
Sometimes I see that the positive ones are pulled, while the negative ones are left and I’m trying to understand the ?????.
This is not intended in any way to negate appreciation to the dedication and time on the part of the mods.

What are your guidelines other than screening for l”h in determining when to pull comments?

In another real sense, there is EVERYBODY here who can actually be embarrassed, insulted, and feel the need to leave.
I’ve been here a shortish time (to quote kapusta), but long enough to have seen this phenomenon SEVERAL times already.

Perhaps contact someone in kiruv and ask for advice.
Sometimes people are told to keep contact, for the relationship itself may keep the other interested and connected to Yiddishkeit in the future, as long as it doesn’t affect you negatively. It varies on the individuals involved.
Perhaps the kiruv organization has someone else trained and qualified to debate him in s& p, since he’s “mostly interested in Science and Philosophy.”

Sorry you had to experience abuse. I hope you’ve been able to successfully take steps to heal.
Your experience and others’ will hopefully allow our community to realize that abuse is not as rare as we might like to think.
When you mention getting help via chat rooms, do you feel that victims are more unlikely to confess their challenge in real life?
Something definitely needs to be done.
Do you have any suggestions? Do you feel it could have been/be prevented? Do you think some victims hide what’s really occurring behind closed doors?

I am appalled.
These are not Torah principles that are on display for anyone to see. Clearly not.
The daughter doesn’t even look fazed by what is occurring. She seems so used to it.
I wish I could believe she’s one of the rare few who experience such maltreatment.
We need to increase EDUCATION, specifically
-communication skills
-anger management
These skills can be taught indiscriminately.
Everyone needs to communicate, and most people will become angry at some point during their lifetime. This is not abuse, but these skills could improve their relationships regardless.
These skills would also be helpful to those who do abuse. It could give them options into another way of reacting. And they wouldn’t feel singled out as abusers if the classes were open to all.
