    happiest

I posted this in another thread that might help.

Even if things seem to be getting worse, there are things we can actually do about it.

We have the power to make good choices.

I’ve just read that calamities only come to the world because of the Yidden (Yevamos 63a). Rashi there explains that Yidden should see past the catastrophes and become FEARFUL of what aveiros cause and do tshuva.

The WTC fell during Elul, Hurricane Katrina was in Elul, and Irene came up the NE coast during Rosh Chodesh Elul bentching.

We also had a summer with the ptiras of three gedolim, two murders (a young child’s murder and a rav), and more attacks in E”Y.

Hashem is showing us how people act when confronted with serious stuff. Those who are afraid are running around and looking for solutions (as with the coming hurricane). They do not wait for the last minute and rush to get some needed supplies.

Then there are those who pretend that nothing is happening may choose to do nothing or just go watch the storm, denying the danger.

Rosh Hashana is quickly approaching and we should not wait till the last minute to prepare.

We were given the tools, tshuva, tfilla and tzedaka.

And we were given the time, a whole Elul.

Let’s get ready. (Rav Pinchos Lipschutz)

I will share that we got calls all day until the wee hours of the morning and even the following day from the firm trying to locate its employees and check if they’d survived.

    It was surreal.

“if you think he’s depressed stay away!”

I prefer this not be a “stay away from depressed people” thread.

There are some depressed people who treat their condition who are really wonderful people. Statistically, MANY people will get some form of depression in their lives. So let’s not look down on them.

There are also people who have very negative attitudes in general with a negative persona, yet they are not clinically depressed.

The point here is that GM feels incredibly “rather awful” after being with this date. In addition, he’s a negative type of person. This is enough to sway my vote, as stated above.

I humbly appreciate your kind words.

Climbing Mountains, I don’t see your profile so I can’t even see where you’ve posted. But what I do know is that it takes one to know one!

PrincessEagle, “i don’t think it could be published – nobody would accept it!

“Don’t make us wait long till the next one!” well unless i could email to you privately i don’t know about that!!”

I hope you are published soon and I just set up a temporary address aycamyisraelchai on the gmail’s account and the mods can delete it in a bit if it goes through. In the meantime, I’m glad to see that you are keeping up with your sugar levels. Do you have any inspiring words for getting rid of the nosh for some of us noshaholics?

    I saw your link, thanks!

Keep up the good work on both fronts, PE!

I just heard a shiur which continues this theme.

At this time of year when people are busy asking for mechila, you should also FORGIVE YOURSELF if you are floundering and not making enough progress (in your estimation) based upon your high expectations of yourself. (R Weinreb)

Shticky Guy is both funny AND original.

The following is my current dilemma AND possible solution:

I’m trying to figure out how to eat a great melave malka AND not have the scale complain about it.

I think I’m going to have some leftover gefilte fish AND soup AND meat AND desserts AND…(I know, I know! AND soon the scale will know, too)

When I finish eating melave malke, I will get up AND decide if I’ve had quite enough or if I can make room for some cake AND coffee.

Does anyone else here relate to this scenario AND have a better solution?

I hope you all have a great week AND month AND year AND…

    Rav Avigdor Miller ztz”l

    Lacking a ???? can shorten another’s life, as the posuk continues ??? ???? ???? ????? (Dvorim 22:8).

Negligence in safety precautions is a form of bloodshed, but so is any deed that causes others to die before their time.

Included in this is are men and women who mistreat their marriage partners so that they fall ill and die prematurely.

In almost every instance the guilty parties consider themselves blameless. Yet these instances are considered as actual shedding of innocent blood.

(This is in direct contrast to the rav (does anyone remember who?) who said during his wife’s levaya that he does not have to ask from her mechila, as he’d never hurt her during all their years together.)

    Hence my original question.

What are your guidelines for pulling posts?

It would give us an idea what not to include in future.

The DA OP could have been shortened &/or modified.

Now Aries feels that I have been oblivious to or denying the issue at hand till now, when not only am I aware but my purpose is to find SOLUTIONS to the problem that made us once again aware of its existence. Awareness of a problem is HALF the battle.

“thanks for opening up your eyes, mind and heart”

Actually, my eyes, mind, and heart were already open.

I did not NEED to see the video to know that this problem exists.

If you would have been able to see my OP, you would have known that.

I think it’s actually an ??????? to bury one’s head in the sand.

I’m seeking a SOLUTION to the problem.
