    Good point.

It’s amazing how their line of thinking is so skewed.

And practically impossible for them to see their role and behavior in the scheme of things.

“i was told by my rav that I would have to prove that i did nothing to provoke getting beaten.”

That’s odd. I learned that one’s behavior is in one’s own hands and one cannot blame another for one’s loss of control.

Look what happens when Adam blamed Chava for his misdeed. Hashem not only punishes Adam as well, but it is seen as a ???? when blaming Chava.

Or when Shaul blamed the people for his misdeed…he lost his kingship.

Hard to imagine a rav doesn’t know hashkafa that we are responsible for our own behavior.

Perhaps ask another rav. And get help.

Hope at least the physical effects of the beating have gone away, but the emotional and psychological effects tend to take lots more time from which to heal.

A CAPTCHA is that puzzle of numbers and letters that you are supposed to copy in order to determine that there is indeed a human sitting at the computer.

Just keep trying to copy the characters till you get it right.

It is an acronym playing on the word “capture” and standing for something like “Completely Automated Public Test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”.

How do abusers do tshuva during these days of repentance?

If they blame others for the abuse, then in their eyes there’s “nothing” they did wrong.

And what if the behavior is ongoing and not a one-off?

The trees comprise the forest, there’s no “klor”ing whether it’s the MO section of the forest or the ultra section of the forest…

Let’s keep the larger picture in mind, which is that there unfortunately is a problem among us with texting on Shabbos for which we need to find a solution, not trying to figure out which sect has more than the other IMHO.

Starving on a fast is to be expected.

The concern, though, is for people who starve themselves each day. Recently had a frum young talented neighbor here who passed from this.

There are some yeshivas which do not allow texting capability on students’ cells at all.

At first I thought what a drastic step to take; now I think that it’s such a smart idea.

Texting can become such an addictive behavior, as many of us have seen. MO or otherwise.

Yes, you are making complete sense.

As one gets older, one becomes more aware of the dangers in the world. Unfortunately, it’s a fact of life. Bitachon and emunah are infinitely valuable ways to navigate this murky terrain.

Our names are so similar! Perhaps we are those twins which people speak of that everyone has somewhere in the world…

Your words give me strength. I should just accept that the yahrtzeit will be difficult. And G-d definitely hears from me.

But people generally do not wish to hear when you are down, so I keep to myself then, which is not good, either.

    ***SO what is the solution?????***

Thank you for your brachot, and same to you as well, and may you be a kli to accept Hashem’s shefa and bracha with simchat hachayim!

How are you differentiating between the day?

There are different versions to the story and the date that it happened. In both 1860 and 1869, Yom Kippur was a Wednesday. According to the Chofetz Chaim, it happened in 1848 which was a Shabbos and also during the pogroms of Chmelnitzky and Tach v’Tat-1848-1849. This date also when the Avnei Nezer was almost 9 (5609/1848) and he was young as well in 5606/1845 when Yom Kippur also came out on Shabbos.

SO it’s interesting to wonder whether R Salanter was making kiddush in Vilna on the very same day that the future Avnei Nezer was refusing to in Bedzin, 500 miles away!

    Dunno.

    happiest

As we grow older, we become more aware of the realities of life. A -year old may not think twice about running across the street after his ball..You will.

A key to happiness is just accepting it without fighting it, since the reality is that this won’t change till the Next World…

    ????? ????? ??? ?? ?????? ??? ??? ???? ?????

Regarding one who must eat on Yom Kippur, one should definitely not make Kiddush as it’s a possible blessing in vain.

Magen Avraham, Mateh Efrayim, Shulchan Aruch of the Baal HaTanya, Chayei Adam, and R Akiva Eiger (end of OC 618)

When the Avnei Nezer, R Avraham Borenstein, was a little child, his father sent him home from shul on Yom Kippur to eat.

When the boy returned, his father asked him if he made kiddush.

The boy responded that he did not. His reasoning was as follows:

Since he’s a katan (minor), he is exempt from all mitzvos. He usually hears kiddush for chinuch (education/training purposes) for when he becomes bar mitzva. However, he doesn’t plan on eating on Yom Kippur so there is no need to practice Kiddush that day…
