May 1, 2011 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm in reply to: (speaking of chinese auctions….Did you EVER win ANYTHING?? #763243always hereParticipantthe first thread that I joined the CR for!
I haven’t won anything – nada – since!!
“B’H– 2 yrs ago I won, @ different Chinese auctions: 2 trips to Colorado, a diamond ring, diamond earrings, a 2 yr car lease on a mini van, $500 Artscroll gift certificate, $500 B&H gift certificate, a sheitel, seforim bookcase. 21 volume English Mishna Breurah,a GPS, $250 Step 2 Toys gift certificate,a gift certificate for a free bridal gown rental (& B’H, my daughter got married within the year!!!!– it was a ‘jackpot’ prize… she wasn’t shidduch dating before that), etc. In the past I had won: another seforim bookcase, another sheitel, a leather couch, The ‘Tur’ & many other seforim, silver candlesticks, a child’s bedroom set, woman’s shopping spree, a ‘den’ decorating pkg., a dinette set, a simcha singer’s services (used for my son’s wedding),etc. // for the past year and a half, I haven’t won anything! no complaints… I always say: it’s decided on Rosh Hashana & sealed on Hoshana Rabbah…”

the ‘father’ was in a Lubavitcher shul, the ‘mother’ was giving birth under a portrait of the Rebba.

several years ago, my male cat was found in the Lubavitcher shul where we davened, around the corner from our house. at the same time, his ‘wife’ was giving birth to a litter of kittens in my daughter’s room, in a box, under a portrait of the Lubavitcher Rebba, zt’l.
I PROMISE this is a true story!!
always hereParticipantNOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉 …lol

always hereParticipantEzratHashem~ your matza must have been nice & thin… ours were almost all sheleimahs, but were thick
April 28, 2011 12:19 am at 12:19 am in reply to: Which Shmura Matzoh was thinnest this year? #762077always hereParticipantmy husband also said Charedim, (dunno how he knew that)… we only had the thickest at our sederim: Montreal, whole wheat :/
always hereParticipantsorry to interject, but may I just say that this year’s Montreal whole wheat shmurah matzas were so thick.
always hereParticipanthere 😀
always hereParticipanthere in Flatbush, I always get responded to —> surprised by your lack of responses.
always hereParticipantI thought you’re supposed to put some tzeduka into a Rabbi Meir Bal HaNess pushka, & say something with his name in it (to be your shaliach).
always hereParticipanttoday, Chol HaMoed erev Yontif, I didn’t even leave my house but had a great visit from my sister & bro-in-law in from Israel, & my nephew- The Doctor, from Manhattan. plus all my children & the grandkids came over so we could all see & enjoy each other! 😀
April 24, 2011 5:52 am at 5:52 am in reply to: If you could live anywhere, where would you live? #890976always hereParticipantI’ve lived in B’klyn for tooo many years now; have lived many other places as well. would rather live anywhere but B’klyn, but my whole family’s here.
“we gotta get outta this place; if it’s the last thing we ever do..”
always hereParticipantbtw, adorable~ when I said ‘OP’ it was ‘original post’, not poster.
also– g’luck with that boy 🙂
always hereParticipantadorable~ my comment wasn’t directed @ you. just as you threw the topic out for discussion, I threw my opinion out onto the floor.
🙂
always hereParticipantA Good Moed.
I just have to say~ being surrounded by my loved ones at the Sederim was one of the high points of happiness for me 🙂 B’H!!
always hereParticipant“what does yontiff mean?” = Yom Tov
always hereParticipantwelcome to you both 🙂 .. have a great Yontif!
always hereParticipantwe have Bartenura blue bottle, some dry red wine my DH likes (since I don’t, I don’t even know what kind it is), Kal, & muss.
always hereParticipanthave a great Yontif everyone!! 😀
always hereParticipantoomis~ I don’t have an exact recipe & no one’s around right now to ask, but the ingredients are: ground chicken breasts, some grated onion, some grated carrots, eggs, salt, pepper, (maybe a little potato starch to bind?). shape into ovals. put in boiling water that has salt, pepper, onion, carrots, a little sugar, (celery if you use it).. it’s cooked for about an hour or so. ..Pesach Sameach!! 🙂
always hereParticipantok,so I’ll be the one to get back on topic…
50-120, female :))
always hereParticipantYaakovDovid~ “The “inner child” is the:
* Little child you were who desired to be nurtured, cared for and loved. This child still resides within you as an adult.
* Free spirit, pixie or elf you have tamed and controlled, yet who resides within you.
* Emotional and sensitive you whom you have channeled, controlled and silenced and who is still living within you.
* Creative, imaginative and artistic you who has been molded, structured and organized; who still resides in you and is needing to be set free.
* Hurt, pained, neglected, frustrated, abused and ignored you whom you have masked, hidden from view and denied the existence of. This child is always just below the surface, causing you to be anxious, worried and fearful of mistreatment.
* Fun loving, happy, frivolous, joyful, humorous you when you were young and unsophisticated; that person you have replaced with a sophisticated, mature, serious, task-oriented demeanor.
* Childhood you have lost or forgotten; yet it still resides in you, dwelling in your subconscious.
* Person who knows how to have fun and play for play’s sake; who can help you prevent burnout and manage the stress in your life.
* Person you could be as an adult if you lightened up, let go of your seriousness, overcame your fears and accepted flexibility and change in your life.
* Person within you who needs healing, support and reinforcement through a variety of Tools for Coping activities. Through this you can be given new life, health and a chance for personal growth.”
always hereParticipantdo I have to stand on one foot? ;
always hereParticipantMaze1 Tov!! 🙂
always hereParticipantMidwood, aka Flatbush
always hereParticipantthis OP is very troubling to me.. I think that restrictions like this would so limit the possibility of finding one’s beshert. IMO it SO shouldn’t matter if the boy/girl is an only child or one of 17. consider the fact that if one were to marry a BT that then they wouldn’t even have that other set of parents to go to for Shabbosim & Yom Tovim. I would hope that one’s spouse is chosen on the basis of lev tov & yiras shomayim, not on family size. it just seems so shallow to me. jmho…
(I have an only child son-in-law, & a daughter-in-law who’s 1 of 9 ka’h).
always hereParticipantI can’t believe I actually counted down to line 14 of this post to check it out.. maybe I should be on the ‘I have no life’ thread? lol 😉
always hereParticipantpopa~ one, lol 😉
April 14, 2011 4:37 am at 4:37 am in reply to: To those who are Pesachdik, what have you cooked, baked? #759190always hereParticipantmy kitchen is still holding @ 96-98% done because we’re still eating chometz, & I dunno if this’ll be inspiring.. but I’m really looking forward to making my usual one-pot meal for the 1st seder: soup & main dish together.
chicken soup w/ a whole chicken, kolichel, carrots, parsnips (petrishka), turnips, zucchinis, onions, sometimes a celery knob. soup gets served w/ Pesach lukshen; fleish gets served afterwards w/ sides like potato kugel, etc. & apple compote.
always hereParticipantWolfish~ I love what you wrote & how articulate & passionate you were about your beloved Mother, amush.
on a side note: I didn’t realize that I may be as old as your Mom!?! :-O
always hereParticipant& without a doubt I would tell anyone who doesn’t smoke, not to start.
& I would encourage anyone who does smoke, to stop.
but personal attacks/name calling- lacking in middos & brains, & not loving one’s children- isn’t going to get an addict to stop.
always hereParticipant& of course EVERYONE knows that smoking is not good for you!
I appreciate that Mod-80 understands what an extremely powerful addiction (not habit) it is.
always hereParticipantthere are smokers who have middos, brains, & love their children.
always hereParticipantMay you grow from strength to strength.
always hereParticipantfilings @ the accountant. kitchen is 96-98% done, but we’re not rushing cuz it’s still only Tuesday & we’re still eating chometz. (just finished eating a bowl of noodles for lunch, in fact).
& yes, thank G-D for cleaning help & accountants 🙂
always hereParticipant& once again, re: Lubavitchers– they do not use any sort of spread on matzah… i.e.- no butter, no cream cheese. (to the best of my knowledge).
always hereParticipantSJSinNYC~ the Lubavitchers I know use endive … still a type of lettuce.
adorable~ I saw those pix, too; it was EVERYTHING in the apt. covered in aluminum foil 🙂
always hereParticipanthmmmm.. MY family says ‘lupper’… HMM 😉
