Why do I get so upset with my husband when he sleeps in? Then practice what you preach, and go with him to Shacharis. How about waking up early for Shacharis and preparing coffee for your husband and yourself, and then driving yourself & your husband to Shacharis. This method is guaranteed to work to get your husband to Shacharis.

Meanwhile I who do attend Shacharis services daily, am much more bothered by habitual latecomers including so called frumies always Makpid about wearing white shirt & dark suit, but also always Makpid to be very late to Shacharis even when Shacharis is later such as Sundays & July 4th.

By definition:- On time to Shacharis is defined as being 5 minutes early so that your are already clad in Tallis & Tefillin when services commence.

popa_bar_abba:- Your comments are 100 correct, because any woman who cooperates with a father’s wishes to see his children obtains a Get fairly expeditiously. The women who experience long delays in receiving a Get are women who become obnoxious & defiant about letting children see their father.

In all the years I have been involved in this sad profession, I have yet to see even 1 exception to this fact.

Splenda’a comments vis a vis the woman are absolutely correct.

The only other Agun[oh] is a child who is being chained away from his/her father and being hindered from seeing his/her father. This is a tragedy of unbelievable proportion, and anyone woman who dares withholds a child from seeing his/her father, is acting incredibly despicably.

talking in shul Only the 2nd urgentest flier albeit exceedingly urgent, both via cell phone or in person.

The urgentest flier is for people to arrive on time, and commence Amidah bTzibur. On time by definition for Shacharis means arriving 5 minutes early, so that you are already clad with Tallis & Tefillin before cantor commences services.

FYI popa_bar_abba Rosh Chodesh Sivon has absolutely nothing to do with timing of Shovu’os.

Shovu’os depends exclusively on timing of Rosh Chodesh Nisson, being 9 weeks & 1 day after Roch Chodesh Nisson; This being so, even in olden days, after 9 weeks everyone knew when Rosh Chodesh Nisson had transpired, which by default makes entire institution of Yom Tov Sheni by Shovu’os even wishier washier than by Pesach & Sukkos.

What a waste [of time] to celebrate a sports team.

Celebrate worthwhile causes like investing time in learning to make a Siyum instead of wasting time with sports.

Celebrate important events liki Mattan Toroh on Shovu’os and the Kossel on Yom Yerusholayim.

I have an 2 exceedingly long standing Gezeiros Shovu’os comparing Erev Pesach to Erev Shovu’os.

    1) Just as I go to sleep on Erev Pesach afternoon, likewise I go to sleep on Erev Shovu’os afternoon.

    2) Just as I consume Coke & coffee [ice cream & drink] on Erev Pesach afternoon, likewise I consume Coke & coffee [ice cream & drink] on Erev Shovu’os afternoon.

Fulfillment of these 2 Gezeiro Shovos supersedes all Talmud Toroh at those hours.

It is important to realize that since Iyyor 28th is the Johrzeit of Shmuel haNovie, and it is the same date that the incredible Neiss of “Har haBayis beYodeinu” transpired, so it doesn’t take too much to correlate that Shmuel haNovie must have been an exceedingly powerful advocate @Kissei haKovod to implore haShem to restore the Har haBayis & the Kossel to its rightful place as part of Am Israel and have we Yehudim praying at the Kossel.

1st weekday Chol haMoed Pesach waiting until after Sheslishi is not exlusive to Yekkes, and is kept on till then, so one can Kiss the tefiilin as Parshas Tefillin is being read from the Toroh.

On Chol haMoed Sukkos Tefillin must be removed prior to Hallel as they may possibly constitute a Chatzitzah when when holding Arba Minim, such that even Chazzan has to remove them prior to Hallel, whereas on Chol haMoed Pesach the Chazzan keeps them on until after Hallel since avoiding Tircho dTzibur trumps the Yom Tov atmosphere of removing Hallel prior to Hallel.

so it is Nidche more often than not. actually, Yom ha’Atzmaut is a Mukdom more often that it is a Nidche, because if it falls out on a Friday [as it will, 4 out of the next 5 years] it is brought forward to Thursday Iyyor 4th, & if it falls out on a Shabbos, it is brought forward to Thursday Iyyor 3rd.

Ironically, the Declaration of Independence was quickly moved up to a Friday afternoon of Iyyor 5th, to abrogate Chilul Shabbos, and not withstanding, when nowadays that date is a Friday as was in 1948, is brought forward to Iyyor 4th.

The reason is that the government is concerned This is a very naive To’us. The government is not 1 iota concerned about Chillul Shabbos. However:- the Rabbanut haRashi cares a lot about Kedushas haShabbos, and they are the ones who pushed for the change in timing of Yom haAtma’ut in a bid to abrogate Chillul Shabbos.

There is absolutely no prohibition to consume Dairy food on Shabbos.

Most Shabbosses I drink dairy ice coffee before attending services in the morning, and eat cheese cake @morning Kiddush time, and consuming Dairy, certainly leaves one in the category of fully Shomer Shabbos, and not 1/2.

Yekke2:- No-one should wait 3 hours, because Yoreh Deah makes no mention of 3 hours. Only 2 options are mentioned in Yoreh Deah:- 1) 1 hour

    2) 6 hours

I have heard of 1/2 Yom Tov:-i.e. Observing 1&1/2 days YomTov when in Israel, which is as old as antiquity, but 1/2 Shabbos is an entirely new one to me.

Maybe the person is off the East coast of Australia on a ship on Friday nite, and on Saturday morning jumps onto Australia land, so is left with 1/2 of shabbos.

Short of this, I cannot for my life figure out what 1/2 Shabbos implies?

How come even those who don’t eat gebrokts (matzo balls etc.) on Pesach, do so on the last day of pesach

4 out of the next 5 years this shall be very problematic, as they won’t be able to cook their Matzo balls, on Eighth day of Pesach which shall be on a Shabbos.

I already consume Matzo balls at 1st Seder as they are so yummy, so this issue 4 out of the next 5 years shall not be my problem.

Procuring Chometz on Pesach is an Issur miDeOrraisso, whereas going into a swimming pool or Mikvah on Shabbos is at most an Issur meiDeRabbonon and probably even less than that:- Albeit squeezing water out of your hair could be more severely Osssur.

But given that the Bronx Zoo is gratis on Wednesday, and there won’t be a Wednesday during Chol haMoed Pesach this year, how about waiting until Chol haMoed Sukkos when there will be a Wednesday on Hoshana Rabba, when Bronx Zoo is gratis.
