VIDEO: Lipa Schmeltzer Releases Video In Memory Of Leiby A”H

I am numb with pain, grief, and heartbroken over the horrifying news that 9-year-old Leiby Kletzky A”H was murdered.

Most of us never knew Leiby, yet he touched us all, in such a remarkable way.

I had just returned from Uman on Tuesday, and although I was very tired, I could not sleep, I spent the night twisting and turning, worried about Leiby.

Then the devastating news came. It hit us like an earthquake. Nothing we had ever imagined in our worst nightmares, had indeed happened.

As a singer, I tried to compose a song for this holy Neshama, but I was unable to come up with even one note. Ive composed so many songs, and now I was empty of music.

Eventually, I came up with a story that I hope will give people some Chizuk that we all need so very desperately right now.

May Leiby be a Maylitz Yosher for his family, and for his new family – all of us, the entire Klal Yisroel.

  1. No one ask you to do this. you are ga’osur’t by most rabanim, didn’t you have enough trouble in court when you released the song moshele in memory of holtzburg family?? no one from the family gave you permision to make a song of their private tzarois!!!

  2. It always hit me as strange that the goyim, whenever they had some sort of tragedy they turned to their celebrites and to hear their “wisdom”. Why are we as yidden interested in what Lipa Shmeltzer (who i agree is a fantastic performer) has to say about something that happens in klal yisroel. Is he Daas Torah, is he a talmud chochom. Is this where we are holding, that the opinion and statements of the stars is what moves us as torah true yidden.

  3. The video is extremely touching and I know Lipa means well.

But honestly, to focus on a future which will sadly never happen, seems more discouraging.

Wouldnt it have been MORE COMFORTING had he emphasized the past 9 years? Telling the world how a young pure neshomo impacted us all and will hopefully be a meilitz yosher for kllal yisroel?

    Just a thought!

  4. I would venture to say that this is borderline apikorsus min hashomayim there was a decree that there will be no more generations from him so what are you imagining, it never would have been
Is it sad yes. But you don’t need to cook up things like this (and try to make it into a carlbach story) to get hisorirus
If the story itself wasn’t misorer you nothing will

  5. You people who all commented negatively i have something to say to you all.
This whole incident was so tragic and so horrible. Everyone banded together as a whole to help search for him and to mourn his horrible death. Achdus is what help unified us in such horrible times. To go and say bad about someone who only wished to help put things in perspective for us is sad. He means only the purist intentions of care and love for a fellow jew. Yet YOU judgmental critical group of people cant let someone do something kind without you pulling out your magnifying glasses. Something so touching and had many in tears from this video, i was expecting to see positive comments about it. Sadly i was wrong and I am ashamed to be affiliated with you people. You poison and ruin things with you judgmental non accepting attitude. It’s people like you who cause ones to stray away from the torah, people like lipa help bring them back. SHAME ON YOU!!!

  6. Lipa did what he does best to help the family and all of us. If you don’t approve shut it off, and go do something that you do best to honor Leiby. I’m sure the family’s media exposure (newspapers, videos, TV interviews, NYPD reports, YWN, VIN, etc., etc.) is being monitored. If the experts (Rabbanim, Drs., Therapists etc.) that are assisting them believe that they should not see the video, then I imagine they won’t be shown it. The message brings home that what the murderer ym”s, did is not just to Leiby and his immediate family but it’s to his never-to-be extended family and the entire Klal Yisroel. It shows that Lipa and by extension we realize this. Of course the family knows, that they lost Leiby’s potential, how does it make it worse by expressing that we all realize it too – maybe it will make it just a tiny, tiny, tiny bit easier – that we share their Tzaar.
