[VIDEO & PHOTOS BELOW] This afternoon at around 5:45PM, United Hatzalah senior staff were on their way to Eilat to honor members of the United Hatzalah Eilat division. Along the way they were alerted by the GPS-based Moskowitz LifeCompass Dispatch System of a serious accident near their position on Route 90 near Paaran Junction.
They group arrived within minutes and found a severely jackknifed tractor-trailer crumpled in a gully.
The seriously injured driver was in the gully in a pool of diesel fuel. Logistics Coordinator Moshe Levi and VP Operations Eli Pollak carefully moved the dirver to a more secure location and initiated lifesaving trauma treatment protocols.
Senior dispatcher Shmuel Avraham radioed in that despite their lifesaving intervention, without rapid medivac to a Level 1 trauma center the patient would likely still die.
United Hatzalah dispatchers called in the IAF 669 medevac unit and units in the field continued to treat the patient. An assortment of civilian and military medical professionals stopped to assist until the arrival of the helicopter.
The patient was airlifted to Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva in serious but stable condition.
United Hatzalah Eilat Regional Coordinator Shmuel Ivgi, still on criutches from his near fatal car accident, took the photos and video for YWN.
