WATCH: NYPD Rescue Man Who Climbed George Washington Bridge



On Friday, October 28, 2016 at approximately 8:20AM, the NYPD Emergency Service Unit 2 responded to a call of a suicidal 54-year-old male on the George Washington Bridge. Upon arrival, Detectives from the ESU were met by Port Authority Police who informed them that a male was climbing up the cables to the top of the westside tower. The ESU Detectives with the assistance of PAPD officers ascended the tower via the elevator. Once they reached the top of the tower the male was standing at the edge threatening to jump. Det. Raul Gonzalez of ESU 2 established a dialogue with the male. Det. Brandon Watson and Det. Raul Gonzalez were able to rescue the male and place him into custody. The male was removed to Bergen Regional Hospital for evaluation and charges are pending by Port Authority Police.
