WATCH: Destroying Traffic Lights At Kikar Shabbos Hafganah

  1. Whether I agree with the feelings of he protesters or not is frankly irrelevant. But the violence and destructiveness is inconsistent with being a Torah-true Yid. The bout of violence a few years ago ended withthe Gedolei Yisroel, including the dayanim of the Badatz objecting to this animalistic, primitive behavior. To stoop to despicable midos is not a Torah way.

  2. Not sure what value there is to this – and why YWN felt this needed to be posted. Simply shameful. And yes – I will use that all too often catch phrase – a Chillul Hashem – for surely this activity does not bring any respect or appreciation to the Torah Observant world.

  3. What a future sakana for drivers, pedestrians, women & young children to be without traffic signals due to anger, malicious and violent behavior.

  4. I totally agree with the first comment. I agree with their feelings and ideals BUT this NOT the way a Torah yid behaves,i feel it is a massive Chilul Hashem, let them express their outrage verbally only.

  5. This act of destroying community property is despicable.
And it brings shame on all of those who stand idly by. And upon all of us bnai Torah, and klal Yisrael.
In much the same way that Islamic terrorists bring shame upon their entire faith.
Let this type of chilul haShem stop IMMEDIATELY, IY”H.

  6. Ignore the garb. These people are thugs.

They’re also endangering lives (R”L) since Kikar Shabbos is one of the busiest road junctions in Yerushalayim and traffic lights are essential.

  7. When my son learned in Mir all the Bachurinm were instructed strictly by the Roshei Yeshiva that there was to be absolutely no participation in any hafganot of any kind – no leaving the koslei Bais Medrash. This was strictly reinforced and abided by, I might add.On the other hand, it was a two-way street. There was also an understanding in the part of the police that their jurisdiction stopped in the street and they could enter a Yeshiva building and disrupt, even in pursuit of some troublemaker. They had to deal with the mashgiach outside or the equivalent. So on one occasion when this was breached and a ruckus ensued inside the building, the boys had carte blanche to let loose. And they grabbed all the primitive “weapons” they could get their hands on – shoes – sandwich-makers – the works, and bombarded the hapless officers from the tops of the stairways. THE borders were quickly reestablished. Anyway, anecdote aside, the point is that this destructive behavior is definitely neither ordered nor condoned by any valid rabbinical authority…none!
And, PS, get to know this from an insider’s cultural standpoint:the boys who let loose like this are known for being the ones with issues. They are the restless ones who are not usually such masmidim. They get their thrills out of a street fight and convince themselves they are doing a big mitzvah. Everyone knows they are irresponsible overgrown babies, and their Mommies are mighty frustrated, too, for the most -part.

  8. The idiots in Meah Sharim live with out radio, with out internet, without videos, a very boring and insular life.
The only fun they have is to protest something.

The fact that most can not really learn or think, only adds to the fact that they love the excitement of a protest.

  9. Destroying traffic-lights and burning garbage bins makes no sense.

It makes people be totally unsympathetic to their protests, and furthermore does damage to their own neighborhood.

(Imagine the Gridlock at Kikar-Shabbat if there are no traffic-lights. And the smoke from the fires are choking their own local residents!)

Just a bunch of rowdy foolish juveniles behaving in a counter-productive manner.

(I am not necessarily criticizing the protests. Only the methods.)

  10. These dogs are just as bad as the blacks in Ferguson who burned down their OWN stores, shops, & homes. Why would you destroy your OWN community to “get back” at the evil tyrants who live elsewhere? Its high time to round up all these Sikrikim and throw them in prison.

  11. What I don’t understand is why they riot in there own neighborhoods Let them go and burn down the Knesset instead of destroying there own neighborhood

  12. I hope, I really hope that the Jerusalem municipality will stop repairing the damage done by misbehaving children. If their parents, elders,Rabbeim, neighbors, etc. won’t stop them, then let ALL of them live with the consequences.

Every time the city repairs something, they are enforcing this dispicable behavior.

  13. The government should NOT clean up the destruction. They should be forced to live with it or clean it themselves. People should stop shopping in their areas. Let them suffer the consequences. They may actually learn to behave as the Torah Jews they pretend to be.

  14. The question is not why there are animals doing disgusting things. The question is why all the people around did not try to stop the animals. Why???

  15. I don’t think they are chayav for nezikim. They are chayav for chilul haShem, and “kim lei, m’drabah minei”. They ought to know what their onesh is to be……

  16. @garic, do you think our great grandparents in the alte heim, did’nt enjoy life because they had no internet and videos?
Enjoying life has nothing to do with internet e.t.c, but is all about how you were brought up. Which these possible obviously lack.

  17. Stop comparing the people in the video to the people in ferguson. That is an insult to the people in ferguson. Those were non jews protesting. These are jews and we should expect more from them. Furthermore, protesting the draft law because you want to be “learning” and therefore exempt, is antithetical to this protest. Shut up, go back to the beis medrash and learn instead of destroying public property.

This is an embarrassment to drum jews the world over. And instead of the leaders of the drum world condemning the actions of the government, now might be a good time for a little introspection.

  18. A real studius Ben Torah would never do this -these are laidig gayers that have nothing better to do looking for excitement and causing Chillul Hashem. Israel has soooo many problems keeping afloat dealing with their enemies etc. why such destructive behavior. How can we do kiruv when they act like this
