VIDEOS: At Least 70 Left Homeless After Two Seperate Fires In Kiryas Yoel

Dozens of people have been displaced after fires tore through two multi-family condominiums in an upstate New York village.

Fire officials tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that the first blaze started around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and burned through a six-family building in the village of Kiryas Joel in Orange County, 50 miles northwest of New York City. Another fire broke out at a nearby condo several hours later.

About 70 people were displaced because of the fires. No one was injured.

Officials say electrical problems are suspected of sparking both fires, but the causes remain under investigation.

  1. Strange to have TWO unrelated electrical fires start within a few hours of one another and in such close proximity to one another. No indication or evidence that they were deliberately set…just bad karma (and perhaps some bad electrical wiring).
