Israel Police commanders have announced that they have learned the lessons of the Shas Siyum HaShas in Teddy Stadium earlier this week after the blunder that left Chacham Ovadia stuck in his vehicle.
Police explain that from now on, they will have a better operational understanding of “chareidi events” and how to deploy manpower in line with this reality. What happened is that when Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef’s Shlita vehicle arrived, the crowd simply began running to meet the gadol hador and in a matter of minutes hundreds of people surrounded the vehicle. While the music stopped the gadol hador was literally trapped inside the vehicle, which was prevented from moving in any direction due to the crowd.
Officials began urging participants in the siyum to return their seats if they wish to “show true kovod hatorah” to the rav. Ultimately, with the assistance of police, they managed to extricate Rav Ovadia from the crowd to permit him to enter the siyum.

Interesting that after all these decades the police don’t have an understanding of how “chareidi events” go.
I don’t know what’s the yeshiva worlds agenda recently, trying to take away from the simchas hatorah and write negativity from non stories
I don’t think that any of these participants had the intention of harming the Rav but its become the norm in Charedi culture to simply ignore directives from the police and security forces and do as they please. Most were probably anxious to get close to the Rav’s car and couldn’t care less about the security concerns for the Rav’s safety they created. Even after the announcer begs them to return to their seats, they continue mindlessly running out on to the field. I suspect in the future, the police will treat these crowds the way they do hooligans at a soccer game since the behavior is not much different.
