The logistics surrounding ongoing preparations for the levaya involve many police, EMS, chevra kadisha and other organizations in Yerushalayim and around Israel. The levaya is expected to be larger than the levaya of HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Zalman Aurbach ZATZAL.
The body of the gadol hador was taken from the hospital shortly after the petira, escorted to 10 Chanan Street by Yassam motorcycle units.
The levaya will begin at 22:00 from the rav’s home at 10 Chanan Street in Meah Shearim, and travel via Shivtei Yisrael Street, Shmuel HaNavi Street, Bar Ilan Street, Yirmiyahu Street and Givat Shaul to Har Menuchos.
Senior Degel HaTorah officials have been meeting with police commanders are preparations are underway. Meetings are also being held by Ichud Hatzalah and Zaka, as they activate volunteers around the country, many instructed to head to the capital for the levaya to ensure an adequate force is on hand to address any eventuality. MDA plans to have a chopper on standby as well as a command center.
Ze’ev Kakash of Ichud Hatzalah reports 1,000 volunteers will be involved in the operation which includes positioning EMTs and paramedics along the levaya route. 150 scooter EMTs will be on hand along with 7 ambulances. The 1221 moked emergency dispatch center will be manned with additional personnel to handle the call volume. Ichud volunteers will also be armed with thousands of bottles of water, realizing the unseasonably hot temperature will require providing hydration for persons at the levaya.
Kakash adds that Icud has arranged with Kupat Cholim Leumit on Shivtei Yisrael Street and Terem Clinic at the entrance to the city to have increased staff on hand to address any eventuality.
Zaka’s Yehuda Meshi-Zahav reports his organization is addressing emergency lighting and other related logistics ahead of the levaya. Hundreds of Zaka volunteers will be assigned to the levaya as well.

In only a few hours members of the Torah community have been able to organize thousands of people. Different organizations with no official connections with one another are working in harmony. Contrast that to how the State handles its problems. All the bickering, jealousies and posturing that goes on, even in the middle of a war, before anything serious can be done. So who are the ones that are really capable of running this country? Whose honesty, integrity and loyalty to the Jewish people can we all rely on? Someone like HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZATZAL or the likes of the Betrayer of Hevron, the Coward of Lebanon or the Treif bird that kisses the hand of the Roman Dope?
Let us mourn the loss of HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZATZAL but let us also rejoice that the Torah community can produce his like and know that we will always have greatness from Torah.

A bunch of organizations come together to execute a one time only event and do it without “fighting or arguing”…big deal. That doesnt even compare to the amount of work it takes to run an entire country. To take it a step further, to run a country where a growing segment of the population does not contribute at all to the defense of the country or to GNP. However, they do use a decent amount of it’s resources and tax dollars…so before you go claiming that these selfsame organizations are the poster children for “honesty, integrity and loyalty to the Jewish people” Lets have a little hakaras hatov to the people that do “run the country” on a daily basis.
It’s getting close to the start of the school year, dont you guys have to line up for a good spot to scream at the orot students?
What a tremendous loss for Am Yisrael…Hashem yenachamnu min ha shamayim…

your Ahavas Yisroel is especially profound. It is so appropriate that you express yourself the way you do during the 3 weeks. I am sure Haakadosh Baruch Hu is being beseached by the Malachim you create with your writing to bring the geula………… as delayed as possible.
PLEASE!!! If we cannot change the world, OK, but lets us not descend to low levels……… lets at least elevate and change ourselves
