Borough Park resident and businessman R’ Yidel Perlstein, a respected local community leader and devoted father and husband, is now the first-ever Chasidic Chairman of Community Board 12.
Despite a promise of support by NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind to support Perlstein, and then pulling his endorsement just hours before the vote, Perlstein has won.
In fact, highly credible sources tell YWN that Hikind promised just a few hours ago that “there will be no vote”.

Wasn’t a Rbbi Goldstein Chair of the Board that covers Crown Heights?
what a kiddush Hashem!
me thinks its time for hikind to pack up shop
Yaakov Doe,
Crown Heights doesn’t have any real “chasidim” because they don’t have a living Rebbe. Therefore technically the statement “first-ever CHASIDIC Chairman of Community Board” is correct.

Breslav are chasidim!
I was there tonight. It was a beautiful kiddush hashem. I was inspired at how every part of the community, regardless of their background, voted for Yidl.
Special thanks to Councilman David Greenfield for his support of Yidel and his brilliant legal reasoning that saved the day!
Mazel Tov Yidel — we love you!
Thank you to YWN for covering this breaking story and exposing Dov Hikind’s shenanigans. It’s about time his tricks are brought to light.
Is this Chaim Yidel Goldstein from 47th Street Photo ??
Goldstein has been Chair of the Board for years, so there guy would be # 2
