VIDEO: How To Help Our Children Go From OK To Great [Mordechai Weinberger LCSW]

Mordechai Weinberger LCSW, along with Dr. Efrayim Nudman, M.D. Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Cornell Medical College, Former Chief of Inpatient Psychiatric service at New York Presbyterian Hospital addressed these questions that were emailed to him:

1: All my life in Yeshiva I watched friends of mine just as smart as me make it and I somehow never made it. Now that I am working, I am finding the same story happening again. I am working just as hard as my co worker and yet he gets the raise and I don’t. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?

2: I want to get close to a certain group of friends. The problem is that I don’t like the same things they do. Is there anyway I can still get into this group?

3: I have a simple question to ask but I have no one to turn to, so I am asking you and hopefully you can help me. I come from a very messed up background. I can’t turn to my parents for help; I have to parent them. I am newly married and my cooking is terrible. After a few months of marriage my husband opened up to me and asked me to call his mother for recipes. I feel so embarrassed that I can’t do it. I am pretty sure I will never be a good cook because it’s not in my genes. I am watching this little problem grow into a huge fight every time he asks me to make something new. Is there any way I can have my husband accept my limitations and to learn to focus on my positive strengths?
