(Click on image to see actual letter.) There was a minor fire this morning (Friday, Chol Hamoed) in Flatbush at the Sephardic Community Center; located at 1901 Ocean Parkway. Boruch Hashem no one was injured, and everyone was evacuated quickly. The SCC has issued the following statement:
We regret to inform you that a minor fire occurred in the sauna room area of our Health Club this morning. Thankfully the building was promptly evacuated, and no one was injured.
Fire and water damage, however, has rendered the health club locker area, sauna and showers as well as the swimming pool unusable until further notice. The health club exercise area was NOT affected.
With the exception of the damaged locations mentioned above, the Center will be open and available to our members. Every effort is being made to restore the affected areas. We are hopeful that our pool will reopen on Thursday April 12th. Please call our front desk for status updates: 718-627-4300.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are doing everything possible to return your Center to its normal operations.
Sincerely,
Sephardic Community Center
Administrative Staff.
