Vandals spray-painted a swastika on a glass-enclosed bulletin board outside a Valley Stream synagogue and Jewish outreach center, Rabbi Yitzchak Goldshmid said.Goldschmid, who has been with Congregation Beth Sholom for eight years, said that to his knowledge it was the first time the grounds had been defaced with a symbol of hate.
The red-painted swastika was accompanied by spray-painted scribblings that were hard to read, said Valley Stream Mayor Edward Cahill, who visited the synagogue to assure its members that the community condemns such vandalism.
