According to The Journal News, officials from the Monsey fire district said today that, contrary to earlier statements made by the Ramapo town supervisor, they’re not taking part in the town’s bid for property owned by the East Ramapo school district.
Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence announced in September that the town, the village of Wesley Hills and the fire district would work together on a $3.7-million proposal to buy the land – a 20.7-acre parcel in Wesley Hills – and preserve it as green space. Under the proposal, the fire district’s share of the bid would be $1.2 million.
