(More pictures HERE.) Approximately 50,000 people attended the Chasunah of the oldest grandson of the Gerrer Rebbe on Tuesday evening. The Chupa was set up on a high roof near Rechov Bar-Ilan, which was completely closed to traffic.
The Rebbe used this opportunity to convey a message, (albeit without words) to his Chassidim: Cut costs for the weddings of your children and grandchildren.
This has been a major issue in the Frum communities for a while, with Gur instructing families to limit invitees to a total of 400. Although the Rebbe couldn’t be expected to adhere to such limits, the Rebbe did set a strict budget.
Unlike the weddings for his own children, the Rebbe decided to invite the public only to the Chupa. Only a few hundred guests were invited to the Seudah, while the rest made do with light refreshments.

Why not?
Only a few hundred guests were invited to the Seudah.
WOW SO MANY PEPOLE
WHY NOT?
How can aRebbe with thousands of Chassidim adhere to limits the same way an average family does? Besides, he is one of the richest men in Israel. Money is less of an issue in his case then it is for others. I guesse he wants to avoid competition amongst his Chassidim whether rich or por and the best way is to implement takonos.
But I dont think anyone expects their Rebbe to take those same takonos upon himself.
b’h after the churban of world war 2 to see so many new doros
vaksing in torah and chasidus
THAT’S ALL ONLY 50 THOUSENT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Rebbe had to limit the amount of guests. Where do you find a pot big enough for choluent for 50,000 people? Not even in the golden medina
It would’ve been 75,000 if not for the ElA fiasco. 🙂
the chassidim did not go w/ el al the boys that went from the yeshiva on 54th and 16 all change their tickets to contenetal and the money thing you r talking about is totaly not right the rebba is a man who help ang gives to one an other and he is not like others who only take he ives more then he takes
with a crowd of 50000, am i suppose to feel sligted that i wasnt invited?
what can I tell you? A REAL CHASID sees his Rebbe as an icon, a symbol beyond criticism who’s standards are higher than the average. I’m absolutly sure that the Chassidim are not phased by the fact that he doesnt adhere to the takonos himself and will respect them gladly if thats what the Rebbe wants EVEN if he himself conducts himself differently. Whether its right or wrong , I dont know…..but thats what they live for.
‘The takonos were imposed on the rich…….’
absolutly right but REBBES are always exceptions. Thats what chasssidus is all about, idolizing their role models.
to lipa schmeltzer . y r u so nespoel that there was onley 50,000 chassidam do u have more then 50,000 when you make a concert? & how maney hotel’s r u going 2 4 pessach ? everey day i c that your goona b singing by a diffrent hotel !!!!!!!!!!
If the Rebbe had kept to the takkanos it could be that many of his chassidim would have been insulted that they weren’t invited to the chasuna.
