On Monday – first day Rosh Chodesh Adar, Hagaon Harav Tuvia Weiss Shlita, GAVAD Yerushalayim made a special visit to the Sanz-Grobover Rebbe Shlita and his Mechon Yochsin Institute located on 16th Avenue and 48th Street in Boro Park.
The institute has been run, for the past 52 years, by the Rebbe Shlit”a, who has amassed vast stores of information regarding the yichus (genealogy) of Klal Yisroel over that time.
The Gav”d shlit”a toured the offices and library of the institute with its tens of thousands of volumes containing the lineage of contemporary dignitaries and ordinary yidden all the way back to Duvid Hamelech and beyond. The Sanz-Gribover Rebbe Shlit”a served as his personal tour guide throughout, and answered the Gav”d’s Shlit”a many inquiries.
The Gav”d Shlit”a expressed his amazement at the sheer volume and extent of the research collected in the institutes archives.
Later guest and host sat down to discuss various issues pertaining to klal yisroel and to the yidden in Yerushalayim in particular.
The Gav”d Shlit”a and his entourage were greeted by a short address delivered by the Rebbe’s son Harav Menachem Zvi
Halberstam Shlit”a, Rav of Khal Bnei Torah Sanz on Dahill Rd. in Boro Park, after which the Gav”d Shlit”a expressed his thanks to the Sanz-Gribover Rebbe Shlit”a for his long-time support of various Yerushalayimer Mosdos, including the Kollel Bnei Torah Sanz, that is headed by the Rebbe Shlit”a.
Very few people have had the privilege of a behind-the-scenes tour of the Mechon Yochsin Institute. This honor has, up until now, been reserved for gedolei yisroel only. The Sanz-Gribover Rebbe Shlit”a plans an making the huge volume of information available to the general public in the very near future.
