After a tremendously successful two years, the Shoot4Shalom basketball tournament is back. Two years ago, 32 teams came to play and raised over $150,000 for the children of Shalom Torah Academy. Last year, 54 teams played and raised over $180,000. This year the tournament is scheduled for February 12st 2016 and it will be bigger as the stakes are that much higher.
Every day Shalom’s children are learning Torah, connecting with their heritage, and receiving a great education. As one walks through the halls the excitement in the air is infectious. All players and fans are encouraged to come down and witness this wonderful institution. However, with the cost of private school so prohibitively high, our school must reach out to our community for greater support. Support of our Klal comes with a bigger responsibility.
With a need for a bigger tournament, Shoot4Shalom has risen to the occasion. The facility, located in Neptune, NJ, has 4 full length NBA courts, thereby creating the ability to expand the tournament to 64 teams. Our half-time entertainers and hosts this year are the world renowned Harlem Globetrotters, who will show us all basketball wizardry like we’ve never seen before! We have much to learn from the Globetrotters, and how the game could be played.
The Tournament’s winning team will receive eight courtside seats to a Harlem Globetrotters game of their choice.
The highest fundraising team will play ball with the Globetrotters! Who will win?
And the team with the highest 3-pt shootout score will win Invecta watches.
Of course the basketball experience will be top notch, with the best teams from across the NJ/NY area coming to compete. Players will receive once again complimentary personalized jerseys and tournament apparel. Each team will play at least 4 games and plenty of food and energy drinks will be available throughout the day. An on court gala dinner will celebrate the great day that everybody experienced.
The businesses that participate will not only be treating their employees to a great day full of sports and fun, but through banner placement, ads and email blasts, will get the recognition and exposure that they deserve.
Families will have a great time too! Besides cheering on their favorite team with Shoot4Shalom pom poms, there will be popcorn, nosh and fun for the whole family to enjoy.

“Score Eternity” Every player and sponsor scores by helping educate the next generation of Jewish children. Every dollar raised goes towards the fight to keep the next generation of Klal Yisroel strong by providing a comprehensive Jewish Day School education for children who come from homes with minimal Jewish experience and background. While public schools enjoy the use of public taxes, Shalom relies on private funders to provide the education that is crucial to Klal Yisroel’s future. We need your support to make a difference.
Make an Impact on Jewish Education: In the words of one former Shalom Torah Academy student who is now preparing to spend a year in Israel post-high school,
“… After only couple months of being with Jewish kids, I felt a strange feeling that I had never felt before: a sense of belonging. These extraordinary children made me feel like I was part of a family.
Going to Shalom Torah helped me discover my potential. I never knew what kind of person I could be until the first day of Shalom Torah…. Through my Jewish studies, I gained a sense of identity, and through this I became motivated to improve my life in every aspect possible..
It’s also notable how Judaism affected my life. Before I walked into Shalom, I barely knew what the Torah was. I certainly didn’t know how to pray or what was kosher. To my own surprise, when I walked out of Shalom, I didn’t just know Judaism; I lived Judaism. I learned about the Torah, the prophets, the Jewish laws, how to pray, what to eat, what to wear, what to do when someone loses an item, when to do certain things, how to do certain things, why we do certain things, and so on. I learned all that and so much more. The moral code of Judaism gave me a positive outlook on life, which is something I thought I could never achieve. To this day I still pray, I still keep kosher, and I still continue in the way of the Jew. Becoming a part of Judaism affected me in ways that would take a hundred pages to describe, but the main idea is that Judaism gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. For that, I am so grateful.”
