UPDATE: Miracle in Lakewood

(UPDATE to THIS story): Lakewood Police have arrested the man who drove a car through the front wall of a Spruce Street home about 3 a.m. Wednesday, injuring three family members, including an 11-month-old, police said.

Anthony Rogers, 27, of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard was charged with driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and failure to report an accident, Sgt. Frank Work said.

The car, a 1986 Oldsmobile Delta, belongs to a South Toms River woman who told police she loaned the car to her sister, who then loaned the car to someone else. It ended up with Rogers, police said.

After learning the driver of the car had fled the scene, police alerted area hospitals to watch for someone with injuries that would be consistent with a motor vehicle crash, Lt. William Addison said.

Police later received a call from Kimball Medical Center that a man with a head laceration had come in for stitches.

Rogers was also seen by a witness running toward Washington Street.
