Maran Hagoen R’ Shmuel Berenbaum Shlita traveled to Montreal yesterday to deliver a Hesped on the Shloshim of Hagoen R’ Avrohom Dovid Niznik ZATZAL – who was the Chief Rabbi of Montreal and a close Chaver of Maran Shlita from Baranovitch and “The Mir”.
A large group of children greeted the Rosh Yeshiva Shlita at the airport when he arrived, and over 300 people attended the Hesped last evening. Before leaving back to New York this morning, the Rosh Yeshiva gave a Shiur to a packed Bais Medrash at the Yeshiva Gedolah of Montreal which was attended by the entire yeshiva including the Kollel, Bais Medrash, Mesivta and Yeshiva K’tana.
Before leaving Montreal, the Rosh Yeshiva visited another Mesivta in Montreal and wished all the Bochrim Shalom.

YW Editor- Why do you feel the need to destroy the picture? Are you afraid that we might use the picture for our own financial benefit? Come on!
I agree with Halevai, especially the gedolim ones.
I agree as well. Why do you need to put your name across the picture of a Rabbi. People might want to print out the picture for their house or something….
More importanly, why do the Alumni & Baalei-Baatim of Mirrer Yeshiva let their Rosh Hayeshiva travel “Cattle Class”? Considering the wealth of the Yeshiva Alumni, a charted aircraft would be more in keeping with the status of the man!
dear nesher i heard the rosh hayeshiva will not take a first class ticket
The Rosh Yeshiva is a simple man, Nesher. This would be very inappropriate. -Crz
The following are some amendments concerning the Shloshim of Chief Rabbi of Montreal, Rabbi Avrum Dovid Niznik.
The Shloshim Seudah was organized by the Igud Mosdos Hachinuch of Montreal who brought in the Rosh Yeshiva from Mir, Maran Rav Shmuel Berenbaum, who spoke. He was introduced by Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Magid, who was from the same chabura from Mir Yeshiva in Poland. The three had come to the Mir with approximately ten other talmidim (Rabbi’s N. Partzovitz, R. Fine, A. Lichtshtien, A. Kreiser, etc) around the summer of 1938.
Other speakers at the shloshim included, Rabbi Yochanan Wosner, member of the Montreal Beis Din and Ravad of Skver, Rabbi Moshe Stein, Lubavitch, Rabbi Jublon, Congregation Beth Ora and Rabbi Reich of Kollel Avrechim, Toronto. The Seudah was attended by 400 – 500 people from the community, representatives of the Klal, Yeshiva Leit, Skvere, Belz, Chassidim and the Sefardi community.
After the Rosh Yeshiva gave a short Shiur and Shmuess in the morning at Yeshiva Gedolah, before being escorted to the airport, he stopped; in front of Mesifta Raishis Chochma, where the Mesifta Bochurim lined up and passed by the car to give Shalom to the Rosh Yeshiva.
The trip was a tremendously uplifting experience, particularly for the Yeshiva Olam. Moran Rav Berenbaum, left only after Yeshiva mincha in Mimer Yeshiva on a fast day. Upon his return, he immediately gave his daily shiur in Yeshiva.
The Igud Mosdos Hachinuch brings in Gedolim to Canada as it did with Rav Steinman and the Gerer Rebbe. In two weeks it will be bringing in Rabbi Noach Isaac Oelbaum who will be coming for the community-wide Seuda on the yahrzeit of Morenu Rabbi Pinchas Hirschprung Ztl.
