Assemblyman Dov Hikind has started a campaign calling on Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign.
“Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn).
“Unfortunately, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has become an expert at failing over and over again and expecting success instead.
He has failed in Lebanon, in Sderot, in Gaza. He is weak when he should be strong, demonstrating ineptitude and incompetence in the face of growing threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and Syria.
Olmert is arrogant, refusing to acknowledge and apologize for the defeat in Lebanon.
“I know Ehud Olmert, and I like him as a person, but his tenure as prime minister has been one of abject failure. Israel cannot go on like this. These ads mark the launch of a campaign to save Olmert from himself – and to save Israel from Olmert.”
The ads will appear in seven Anglo-Jewish weeklies in New York; New Jersey; Florida; Washington, DC; and California.
“Olmert is overwhelmed, failing to stop Kassam rocket fire on Sderot. Olmert’s desperation does not permit him to recognize the futility of disengagement, as he continues with his delusional fantasies about realignment. The West Bank cannot be forged into the terror breeding ground that Gaza has become.
“More than ever, Israel needs strong leadership. Olmert does not have what it takes: integrity, decisiveness, determination, vision, the strength and skill to lead Israel. Ehud, please resign, for the sake of Israel and the Jewish people.”

Dov, ! do u know were Albany is ? please go there and take care of business
Is there a petition we can sign? Please keep us posted!!
What Olmert and many Israelis fail to remember are the harsh lessons taught us over the centuries.
If a madman with power says he want us dead there is a very good chance that he will try and kill us.
Responding to these murderers with gestures of peace means denying history and bloody lessons we have learned.
As far as US policy goes, the political winds will determine where they stand. There is no sense of loyalty to any politician’s other then self preservation. If the perception is that dealing with our enemies is in their misguided interests we can expect to be thrown to the wayside.
Way to go Hikind
Hey Dov
If you make aliyah then your opinion counts! In NY concentrate on NY issues.
Kol Hakovod to Mr. Hikind. However, have you ever heard of a prime minister in one country resigning because of one small politician putting some ads in some papers in a different country?!? Dov – this is such a long shot that you are only going to make a fool of yourself.
Yo Emes! If I remember correctly Dov Hikind has been to Israel to lend support and help out in many ways in the past. So he is not just waking up and sticking his nose where it doesnt belong. Secondly, there are people telling Bush to ignore Israel and to concentrate on USA. B’H Bush ignores them and I hope you don’t agree with them!!
“If you make aliyah then your opinion counts!”
Right. The only way an American Jew should be involved in Israel is financially. (not)
We sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Honorable Assemblyman Dov Hikind LOY”T on this and other issues important to Torah Jews. We hope that the Ribono Shel Olam will grant us the opportunity to join Mr. Hikind BeKabalas Pnei Mashiach Tzidkeinu, BiMeheira VeYaneinu Amen.
Did u hear of the largest israeli vegetable?its called an olmert.
Wrong Wrong Wrong. What Israel does and the way it is perceived affects every jew in the world. Should only say tehilim for people in the US, should we only give mo0ney to jews in the us. If you want our money and our prayers the opinions are part of the bargain.
The way to help Israel, is not to call for the resignation of its Prime Minister publicly. I remain.
Dov Hikind is sincere and couragous. I applaud him and to those who say it is hopeless I retort: You can never tell where something may lead until you start the ball rolling. What if it catches on in Israel? There are plenty of people in Israel who are totally fed up with Olmert. Sometimes all you need is a match…
go dov!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great idea Dov, keep Israel and love of Jews as the #1 issue on your agenda.
ISRAEL is our inheritance, and I can speak up and claim my inheritance from there or here!!!
To nunu and emesvyatziv: The Brisker Rov said “az es tut vei shreit men” regardless of whether it will help. It is inspiring to see that there is a frum yid on the other side of the world who cares when the lives of fellow Yiddin are hefker thanks to an inept and uncaring government who are more concerned on holding on to their seats then on protecting their citizens. Dov is an inspiration, he is pained and he is crying. Of course the government couldn’t care less about Dov’s ads or anyone else’s views regardless of whom and where they are. The point is, Hashem receives much nachas when He sees Yidden caring for each other. When it comes to chilllel shabbos and nituchei maisim and disgusting parades in Yerusholayim everyone seems to care but when it comes to pikuach nefesh of other Yiddin, for some reason most of the frum olom sleeps. Dov, May Hashem hear your cries and replace the cockroaches from the Erev Rav who run our government with true Torah leadership under Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
Kol hakovod Dov, keep israel and the jewish nation #1 on your agenda, it is well apppreciated. Israel is our inheritance and you can claim and speak up about your inheritance from there of from here!!
Isser, you say brisker rov. He Brisker rov called like Dov “nebach apikoras” becouse of “zionistik daos”
The Brisker Rov said “az es tut vei shreit men” – Tzu der Eibershter – Not publicly calling for the leader of the state to step down. I deeply care for what is going on in Israel and daven for its safety 3 times daily.
i was looking at some polls last week showing olmert with a 6.7 approval reating and another one with a 7.4 rating yes 7 out of a 100!!! not out of 10!!!
