On Friday afternoon the Waterbury FD responded to a full structure fire on the corner of Hillside and Pine streets – less then one block from three of the Yeshiva’s Dorms. The fire was a quick spreading fire and escalated through the roof in minutes. Hatzolah responded to the scene to assist the FD in quickly evacuating the surrounding houses for fear of other houses catching on fire. Numerous extra fire trucks were called right away for back up.
American Medical Response was called 2 assist Waterbury Hatzolah with an ambulance. one patient was treated with smoke inhalation by Hatzolah at the scene and was released.
It took about 45min for the fire dept to bring the fire under control. The house had major damage and was no longer live-able. The American Red Cross came in to assist the family with food, clothing and shelter.
A special thanks to the Waterbury FD for their quick response and getting the fire under control so quickly.
The Yeshiva would like to publicly add an extra special thank you to the Waterbury Fire Chief Mr. Michael A. Maglione for doing such a great job for the city all year round. “We couldn’t ask for more”.
The Yeshiva would also like to thank the dedicated members of Waterbury Hatzolah for assistance at the fire; most notably to Captian Akiva, (WY-6) and (WY-5) “thank you very much for taking out your time to assist others”.
