Early this morning on an El Al flight departing from JFK bound for Israel (packed “Succos style”) the travelers were surprised to hear the pilot announce that they will be landing back at JFK after three hours of flying. Apparently the inter-phone system was malfunctioning causing the pilot to have no way of communicating with his staff. The decision was made to return as a precaution and have the electrical system checked throughout the airplane – as the FAA requires.–YW Editor.
