California – Chillul Hashem in prank bomb threat


A man was arrested after phoning in a bomb threat to Long Beach Airport in an attempt to catch a plane.

The incident occurred about 9:15 p.m., involved JetBlue Flight 243 to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to Sharon Jackson, an airport spokeswoman.

Authorities located and arrested Yechezkel Wells about 9:30 p.m., an American citizen, in the area around the airport, based on specific information he provided in the phone call.

Three others were detained, questioned and released. Wells was upset that he was kept off the plane.

Officers from the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and Long Beach police conducted a search of the plane with the aid of bomb-sniffing dogs, according to Jackson.

Wells confessed to the authorities that there was no bomb, according to FBI Media Coordinator Kenny Smith.

Passengers were delayed about 50 minutes before the flight resumed, Smith said.
