Threat against Rabbi is now a federal case

Allegations that a Brentwood man sent a threatening letter to a Portsmouth rabbi are now a federal case. Portsmouth police allege Elijah Wallace, 23, sent a strongly worded letter to a local temple while he was in the Rockingham County Jail last month. Court papers say the letter included graphic threats against the rabbi and his wife.

Portsmouth police charged Wallace with criminal threatening, but say he now faces federal charges.

Wallace pleaded guilty in 2003 to threatening the president and was sentenced to nearly three years in a federal medical prison.
