**UPDATED** Al Jazeera says authorities have just foiled a plot to hijack a flight from Amman to Doha. INN is reporting that one of the passengers tried to break into the pilot’s cabin when security personnel overcame him.

Jordanian government officials said Thursday evening that the passenger who tried to break into the cockpit of a Qatar flight in the afternoon was not trying to hijack the flight, as earlier reported. The incident was a result of a quarrel between the passenger and a flight attendant on the flight from Doha, the capital of Qatar, to Amman, Jordan, a government spokesman stated. The plane returned to Doha following the incident because the man, who was unarmed, was carrying a box with an unknown substance, an airline stewardess said.
