SLC: With the Staten Island Jewish community planning a pro-Israel rally for Sunday, Borough President James P. Molinaro met with about a dozen Jewish leaders yesterday to express his support of Israel’s fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon.“If you’re in your house and you get attacked, you must defend yourself,” Molinaro told those who attended the meeting in his Borough Hall office.

Israel launched its offensive in Lebanon last month after Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers.

The rally will begin at 10 a.m. in the Joan? and Allan Bernikow Parking Lot at the Jewish Community Center at 1466 Manor Rd., Sea View.

“I wanted to communicate my support for Israel’s efforts to make peace,” Molinaro said yesterday. “They deserve to enjoy the free life that other people enjoy.”
