During a Wednesday morning interview on Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), Defense Ministry Settlement Affairs Advisor Eitan Baroshi explained that despite telling the Supreme Court otherwise, the ministry will not meet its deadline to remove the residents of the Shomron community of Migron by August.
Baroshi explained that an alternative living situation must be arranged for the approximately 40 families, living in the community in the Benjamin Regional Council district of Shomron since 2002.
Ironically, former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Ayalon supported the establishment of the community on a hilltop near Psagot, acknowledging its significant security presence, but today, the budding community is still officially regarded as an ‘illegal outpost’ and it is slated for removal.
Baroshi cited nearby Yishuv Adam as a possible alternative living space for the Migron residents, who are signaling they do not plan to leave their homes or community.
Baroshi stated he will work towards a voluntary situation, hoping a satisfactory solution will be reached that will result in a voluntary evacuation rather than the unpleasant possibility of a forced action.
