IMG_0665Mayoral candidate Bill DeBlasio paid a visit to Williamsburg last Monday evening for a fundraising reception held at the home of noted community leader Rabbi Abe Friedman. Many community leaders and businessmen took advantage of the opportunity to meet with DeBlasio and to contribute to the Democratic candidate’s campaign in the final weeks before the upcoming November 5th election.

Rabbi Friedman gave DeBlasio a warm welcome, noting his long record of ongoing leadership and ongoing advocacy on behalf of the Jewish community. Recounting the numerous times that he himself had reached out to de Blasio in his tenure as Public Advocate, Rabbi Friedman commended de Blasio for his willingness to extend himself on behalf of the Jewish community, particularly in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy when de Blasio was not only among the first to visit the areas devastated by the superstorm, but also advocated on behalf of hurricane victims during their time of need.

Also in attendance were the coordinators of Chevra Hatzolah of Williamsburg and the heads of the Shomrim Williamsburg Safety Patrol, who joined businessmen and local leaders in assuring de Blasio of their support as he continues along the campaign trail.

” Mr. DeBlasio was from the only elected officials i can say intervene in every way to help people and community’s. He will make a great Mayor and this what the city needs” said Rabbi Friedman of DeBlasio.

” I want to assure the business community as well as leaders, my door will always be open” said DeBlasio in he’s speech.

Rabbi Abe Friedman, a respected community leader, has a long tradition of liaising with elected officials and members of law enforcement. Many political hopefuls have met with Rabbi Friedman to seek his support, guidance and blessings during their campaigns.
