Egypt to Act Unilaterally to Open Border Crossing Despite Israel’s Objections

Taking advantage of the Presidential Conference hosted in the Jerusalem Convention Center, Israel Police on Tuesday questioned US billionaire Sheldon Adelson as well as S. Daniel Abraham, both attending the conference, as the scope of the comprehensive investigation against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert appears to be widening.

In 2004, Abraham bought Olmert’s home located on Kaf Tet Benovember Street in the capital. Abraham, the founder of Slim Fast, established the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation, an organization that he continues to fund.

Police stress that the two are giving information but are not suspects, seeking to link them to Olmert’s alleged efforts to persuade hotel owners to purchase mini bars from Moshe Talansky’s company.

Police continue to question longtime Olmert aide Shula Zaken, as well as the prime minister’s attorney and former law firm partner Uri Messer, apparently beginning to piece together a puzzle of widespread illegal activities by Olmert in his capacity as Jerusalem mayor and minister of industry & trade.
