Vandals struck a Jewish cemetery in Massena (NY) over the weekend, spray painting swastikas on the driveway? and putting a damper on what should have been a day of respectful reflection on Fathers Day.
According to the Massena Courier-Observer, the vandals used paint left on the premises for a fence painting job to paint swastikas in the driveway of the Maple Street cemetery. Town Supervisor Gary Edwards told the paper that two sets of initials, DL and RR, were painted next to the swastikas. Edwards called it a repulsive act of vandalism and said its not something normally seen in Massena.
“Hopefully they will find out who did this. The people that did this may be surprised to find out something like this could fall under federal laws for hate crimes and even terrorism Edwards told the paper.
