One member at Emanu-El, George Breibart, said that before leaving for good, the rabbi had stopped going to meetings and often wasnt in his office.
He didnt come some Fridays. He didnt come some Saturdays, Breibart said.
Sonya and Stuart Knee attend Synagogue Emanu-El and were walking on its grounds on Monday when they learned of the rabbis arrest.
The congregation appears to be very steady and very stalwart and will survive this, Stuart Knee said.
Zionce was released on his own recognizance without bail, a municipal court administrator said.
Zionce couldnt be reached for comment, and Lila Sarick, Zionces wife, would not comment on the matter.
