It doesn’t get much more basic than this – or much better tasting!
¾ cup (1-1/2 sticks) margarine, softened
¼ cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups flour
Powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together margarine and sugar until fluffy. Beat in vanilla and then flour. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness. Use 1-inch round cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for about 20 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool and dust with powdered sugar.
