I like my old standard recipes but sometimes it’s worthwhile trying something new.
1 (6-pound) brisket
2 onions, sliced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place brisket in a roasting pan. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over brisket. Cover tightly and bake for about 4 hours. Uncover and let sit about 15 minutes before slicing. Cool, cover and store in the refrigerator. Reheat in 350-degree oven for about 1 hour. Tastes best that way.
