Meet Oriyah – Head of the Religious Council

Oriyah woke to the sound of sirens.

Missiles were headed toward her small town on the Gaza border – and she had only 15 seconds to grab her one-month-old baby and run for safety.

After a day in the shelter, davening to Hashem and hoping to survive, night fell. Oriyah started to receive calls from women in nearby kibbutzim.

October 7 was their mikvah night.

“What should we do?”

Despite the fear of rockets and terrorists, women still wanted to fulfill their sacred mitzvah.

But was it safe? Responsible?

Watch Oriyah’s story here:

Post-October 7, Oriyah bought some bomb shelters to place right outside but the women told her, “Eventually, we are in the water. How can I reach the ma’amad with just a few seconds?”

“Some settlements are only four kilometers from the Gaza strip,” Oriyah explained. “These women don’t immerse during emergencies and postpone mikvah.”

When you support the Merkaz, you help build sheltered mikvaos on border communities – encouraging more women like those Oriyah knows keep the mitzvah with ease and peace of mind.

Enter Yom Hadin with the zechus of thousands of tevillos on your side.

As soon as there are more sheltered mikvaos, more women will feel safe keeping this fundamental mitzvah.

As we mark one year after the horrific massacre, let’s strengthen Eretz Yisroel with the zechus of more taharah.

Enable thousands of women to keep this special mitzvah – no matter what, no matter when.

Help build more sheltered mikvaos in Eretz Yisroel.
