Rebbetzin Batsheva Kanievsky a”h, the beloved “mamme” of Klal Yisroel, showered praise upon her beloved son, Rav Shlomo Kanievsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Kiryas Melech. In the following video, Rebbetzin Kanievsky, speaking to Rav Mahir Reiss, expresses her pride over her son:

“My husband [Rav Chaim Kanievsky] said that it’s a shame that Rav Shlomo has to travel and be busy worrying about parnassah [to support his yeshiva], because with his Torah learning, he could grow to become the gadol hador! By the time he was bar mitzvah, he had completed Shas. And he didn’t just learn it. He knew it!
“Bli ayin hara, [Rav Shlomo] has to travel to support the yeshiva. And my husband says that it’s a shame.
“So whoever helps [Rav Shlomo] has a tremendous zechus, the zechus of Torah – a kollel, a yeshiva ketana and a yeshiva gedlola.
“He’s named after the Leshem, who writes in his tzava’ah that those who are named after him who learn Torah will be matzliach. Bli ayin hara, all of the ainiklach who are named Shlomo after the Leshem are exceptional.”
As the American Torah world welcomes Rav Shlomo Kanievsky, rosh yeshiva of Tiferes Tzion / Yeshiva Kiryas Melech in Bnei Brak as part of a global effort to raise the support needed to sustain this renowned bastion of Torah in Eretz Yisroel, we present a series highlighting Rav Shlomo’s illustrious lineage.

As we approach Lag b’Omer = 2nd Johrzeit of the Rosh Yeshiva of Kiryas Melech:- HaGaon HoRav Shmuel Yaakov Borenstein ZTKLLH’H who passed away at the tragically young age of 70, we note that Rav Shlomo Kaniewsky also was in USA Lag b’Omer 2 years ago to raise funds, and hence sadly missed that tragic funeral.
