Chief rabbi of South Africa, Rabbi Warren Goldstein, extolled the Brooklyn community for maintaining the Shabbos Project, now in its sixth year. “This is the sixth year of the Shabbos Project,” he reflected, “and what began as a small event in South Africa has now swelled beyond our wildest dreams sweeping over the entire Jewish world.”
“I would like to thank the incredible rabbis of BJX, Rav Yitzchok and Rav Moshe Fingerer who do so much year round and have been such committed and creative Shabbos Project partners from the get-go,” said Rabbi Goldstein.
Brooklyn Jewish Xperience (BJX) is kick-starting the Shabbos Project this year with a Challah bake, Thursday evening, October 25th. This is a exceptional opportunity for Jewish women from around Brooklyn to come and unite with their less affiliated friends and colleagues as they together mix ingredients and braid the challah. The excitement for the Shabbos Project is growing. “People want to know how they can make a difference and get involved,” says Rabbi Moshe Fingerer, Menahel of BJX. “The people in our community are encouraging other Jews to experience Shabbos,” he said. The Shabbos Project will officially commence Friday evening in typical BJX style with a beautiful and heartfelt Carlebach Kabbolos Shabbos with the Traveling Chassidim. Space is quickly filling up! Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro of North Miami Beach is joining BJX for Shabbos. He will certainly ignite the pintele yid of the audience throughout this special Shabbos. Rabbi Yitzchok Fingerer, Rav of BJX, will also share words of inspiration and wisdom.The entire community is welcome to join the BJX Shabbos Project Friday night Oneg and the special Shabbos day program. Everyone is also welcome to attend the community-wide Shalosh Seudos which will be enhanced with exciting guest speakers. With all types of Jews unifying together -along with the right balance of inspiration- the BJX Shabbos Project promises to be transformative.
