  1. And I can also hear what Rav Frand has to say about Rochester, Brooklyn, making Aliyah, and Miami. With these communities decision it really should depend on what is best for yourself and your family, with some input from your personal Rav and close family members. Not advertisements.

I was once interested in an “out of town” community, but it didn’t work out because my wife wanted to stay within shorter driving distance from the family. Shalom Bayis is important too.

  2. How far or close is Norfolk VA to Brooklyn?
Is it a cholov Yisroel community?
What brands of Meat & poultry are available.
Are OU products commonly available in the supermarkets?
Is the a Costco in the area?

  3. yudel, I’m not from Norfolk (but I’ll do my best from Google).
Norfolk to Brooklyn is 366 miles, about 7 hours driving without traffic.
I’m sure your basic cholov yisroel products are probably found in a secular supermarket with an enhanced kosher section. As I’ve been to other small communities, you may not be able to find a specific CY ice cream sandwich or particular whipped cream for example.
Not sure about the meat and poultry, my guess is Empire
I’ve found OU products at a Walmart in Iowa, so I’m sure you can find it in Virginia too (we aren’t talking about a foreign country)
Looks like they have a Costco at 850 Glenrock Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502
